Urdu, best suited for Communicating Science : Dr. Nakul Parashar
National Urdu Science Congress begins at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Urdu a language usually associated with sweet poetic expression of love and romance is equally effective in communicating & popularizing science. Dr. Nakul Parashar, Director Vigyan Prasar, Dept. of Science & Technology, New Delhi, today expressed the view at Maulana Azad National Urdu University(MANUU) while addressing the inaugural of National Urdu Science Congress 2020 as the Chief Guest.

The congress is being organized by Centre for Promotion of Knowledge in Urdu (CPKU) of MANUU in association with School of Sciences.

Dr. Parashar, while sharing his experience remarked that Urdu poetry is nothing short of a work of genius. The usage of selecting words while expressing the feelings is like understanding science. He asked the audience consisting of scholars, science writers, students & academicians to invoke science communicator hidden inside. He also spoke about efforts by Vigyan Prasar to popularize science in regional languages and candidly acknowledged that success in Urdu language is much higher than others. He gave the credit of this success to his associate Dr. Irfana Begum, who is also bringing out a Urdu News letter “Tajassus”. Dr. Parashar also proposed a workshop on Urdu Science communication at MANUU.

Dr. Shyam Sunder Prasad, renowned Ophthalmologist from Hyderabad, Guest of Honour, in his brief address described Urdu as a living language and will remain so for ever. He also stressed the need to popularize and learn the language and rejected the attempts to associate it with a particular religion.

Prof. Zafar Ahsan in his presidential address stressed the need to spread the knowledge by preserving it through writing. We also need to encourage young writers in Urdu who can write about sciences.

Prof. Ayub Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor in his welcome address highlighted the importance of science congress and also introduced the guests.

Earlier, Prof. S. M Rahmatullah, Registrarin his introductory remarks spoke about importance of Urdu & Science. He paid tributes to the untiring efforts by Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice- Chancellor, MANUU to popularize science through Urdu Science Congress & by publishing monthly magazine in Urdu named “Science” for the last 25 years.

Various books on science published by Vigyan Prasar, Directorate of Translation & Publication (DTP) MANUU, and others were also released.

Dr. Abid Moiz, Consultant, CPKU proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Sameena Kausar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Arabic conducted the proceedings. Scholars, students& paper presenters from all over the India are attending the congress.

Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor joining the second session of the congress, emphasized the need to observe and think deeply.  While referring speakers he said how they observed life in a different way and made it easier for them in light of their experiences.

 

MANUU Polytechnic bags prestigious
Chhatra Vishwakarma award

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Polytechnic team from Hyderabad has bagged the prestigious Chhatra Vishwakarma award 2019. The team secured first position in a national competition organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ presented the award to winners in the presence of Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE in a glittering ceremony held yesterday at New Delhi. The award consist of 51 thousand rupees and a citation. MANUU Polytechnic is the only team from Telangana & AP to secure the first position.

Team consisting of final year diploma students - Ms Sumaiya Qaisar (Computer Science &Engineering), Mr. Akif Jawaid (Information Technology) and Mr. Md. Safeer Alam, (Electronics &Engineering)won the award under sub-category Crop (Parali/Para) Waste Management for the project entitled “Smart grain management system using IoT”. The AICTE theme was “how to increase the financial income of a village/farmer using innovative technology”.117 teams were shortlisted among 6676 and only 23 teams got the awards under 8 categories. Mr. Mohammed Yousuf, Assistant professor, Department of Information & Technology was the mentor of the project.

Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the Polytechnic team and said that award yet again proves the efficacy of Urdu language and it’s relevance in contemporary world with regard to Science & Technology. Prof. Ayub Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. S. M. Rahmatullah, Registrar also congratulated the team.

Dr. Mohd. Yousuf Khan, Principal, announced the achievement of MANUU Polytechnic students during the National Urdu Science Congress today amidst thunderous applause and standing ovation. The students competed with B.Tech & M.Tech students of reputed engineering colleges at National level to get first position, he informed.
