Prof. Tariq Mansoor asks MANUU to start Medical College Addresses Foundation Day function online

The government is supporting the establishment of medical colleges and if MANUU pays attention to it, the government will definitely help in this. Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim Universityopined today in his online address at a function to mark the23rdFoundation Day celebrations of MANUU.

Continuing his address the Chief Guest, Prof. Tariq Mansoor said that foundation day for any institution is not only a time to celebrate but also to introspect it’s performances andtoprospectitsfutureopportunities. Named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, MANUU had humblebeginning but has undoubtedly made phenomenal progress since its inception 23 years ago.Speaking about Urdu language, he said Urdu is not a regional or religious language but a global language and it is a challenge for us to revive it.MANUU has proven thatUrdu,popularforit’spoetryis also fit for acquiring modern scientific knowledge and service to the society in all walks of life.The manner in which MANUU caters to Urdu medium education in subjects like computer science, social science, arts, humanities and Mass Communication is marvellous indeed, he acknowledged.

Advising youth, he said world is full of opportunities but also have evil temptations,explore and overcome them. MakeuseofSocialMediawisely and stay clear of divisive politics, fissiparous sectarianism and petty squabbles. Set higher aims with your sheer will power and righteous guidance.Remember, change towards modernity should not be resisted, and firmness in ideals should never be compromised, he added. Talking about teachers, he said theroleofteachersispivotalinshapingthefutureofthe University and the nation. A true teacher delivers with utmost sincerity and commitment, not only the curriculum in classroom but inspires andinstills precious life lessons and values. Prof. Tariq Mansoor also appreciated the high academic standard set by MANUU which is recognized by NAAC also. He also praised the contribution of Instructional Media Centre of MANUU in digitally enriching the Urdu Literature and Culture.

Prof. S M Rahmatullah in his presidential address said that languages are born to meet the needs of human beings and if it gets patronage of government then that language flourishes and also becomes a source of knowledge & education. Urdu language came into being through a mixture of Indo-Aryan languages and also gained the status of an official language but later there were reasons for its decline. Praising New Education Policy, he said NEP emphasized the need to provide education in the mother tongue. It focuses on the acquisition and research of various skills and to establish national research institute. MANUU is organizing various webinars to understand and effectively implement the policy. At the end, he paid homage to Maulana Azad, former Vice Chancellors of MANUU, Prof. Tariq Mansoor and MANUU through his catchy poetry.

Earlier, Prof Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar I/c,welcomed and introduced the guest speaker. He also spoke about the importance of higher learning mechanism and the background in which MANUU was established.

Prof. Mohd. Naseemuddin Farees, Dean, School of Languages proposed the vote of thanks.Mr. Abid Abdul Wasay, Public Relations Officer conducted the proceedings.

Instructional Media Centre’s team under the supervision of it’s Director, Mr. Rizwan Ahamd made arrangements of live streaming on youtube channel. Students, scholars, faculty and staff members attended the programme online .
