Delivers National Science Day online Lecture at MANUU

Hyderabad:

“Covid-19 would stay with us for longer time and precautions needed to be takenaptly”. Eminent Scientist, Padamshree Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, honorary professor, IIT Delhi, expressed this view while delivering the online lecture organized by School of Sciences (SoS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in connection with National Science Day on 28th February 2021.

He spoke on the topic “Biological Sciences will dominate all branches of Human Enquiry in this Century and perhaps beyond?” as the chief guest of the programme.

In his lecture Prof. Hasnain shed light on several new innovations and discoveries of sciences in general and convinced that Biology in particular will dominate other sciences in the 21stcentury and perhaps beyond. He detailed how the DNA sequencing, Epigenetics, Stem cells, Next generation sequencing, gene editing, cloning and 3D organ printing related research would revolutionaries all walks of life. Referring to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s resolve, he said country would successfully eradicate Tuberculosis by 2025.

His talk also highlighted the significance of Science-Day which is the commemoration of the discovery of Raman Effect in 1928 for which Sir CV Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.

Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c in his presidential address thanked Prof. Hasnain for his content rich and thought provoking lecture.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c emphasised on the importance of wisdom and its intimate relationship with the value system.

Prof. Rahmatullah and Prof. Siddiqui announced the winners of video clipping competition organized by the School of Sciences on the NSD-2021 theme “Future of Science, Technology & Innovation (STI): Impacts on Education, Skills, and Work”. They congratulated the winners and encouraged the students to participate in such programs.

Prof. Parveen Jahan, Dean, SoS& Convener of the program welcomed the guests and introduced the chief guest.

Dr. Ira Khan, Assistant Professor (Botany) proposed vote of thanks and also convened the programme.

Instructional Media Center Team under the supervision of the Director, Mr. Rizwan Ahamd webcast the program live on MANUU YouTube Channel.

Hyderabad: Dean Research and Consultancy and Center for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (CPDUMT), Maulana Azad National Urdu University is conducting a five-day online workshop for research scholars.

Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c while delivering presidential address in the inaugural held yesterday, said that critical observation and extensive study is essential for better research. He advised Students to focus on research for constructive purpose  rather than research for the sake of research. The National Education Policy 2020 also emphasizes the importance of research, he added.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohammad Mahmood, Registrar in-charge, said that the research scholars should have a clear idea about the subject of research and shall speak in a neutral and rational manner. Good writing skills should also be developed along with creativity for good research.

Earlier, Prof. Salma Ahmed Farooqi, Dean Research and Consultancy, while explaining the aims and objectives of the workshop, said that the services of experts from all over the country are being sought for the online workshop. The inaugural function was conducted by Prof. Mohammad Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director, CPDUMT. Dr. A. Subhash, Assistant Professor, Deccan Studies, proposed vote of thanks
