Background of the Programme

The School of Sciences, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized the Deeksharambh – Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2025–26 for newly admitted students. The programme was designed for newly admitted students of Ph.D. programmes, M.Sc. programmes, B.Sc. Physical Science, B.Sc. Life Science and the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development.

As per the circular issued by the Dean, School of Sciences, dated 30 July 2025, the general induction programme for the School of Sciences was scheduled from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Room No. 215, followed by a dedicated induction session for the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the CSE Building.

Proceedings of the Event

The Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, School of Sciences, MANUU, conducted its dedicated session of the Deeksharambh – Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2025–26 on 04 August 2025 at the CSE Building.

The programme was attended by Prof. H. Aleem Basha, Dean, School of Sciences, and Prof. S. Maqbool Ahmed, Nodal Officer, along with faculty members, staff and newly admitted students of the Department.

The session was presented and coordinated by Mr. Zubair Ul Islam, Assistant Professor, Medical Imaging Technology. The programme aimed to provide newly admitted students with an orientation to the University, School of Sciences, Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, academic programmes, facilities, faculty members, training opportunities and the overall academic environment.

The session commenced with an introduction to Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) by esteemed Nodal officer Prof. S. Maqbool Ahmed and an introduction to School of Science by Dean H. Aleem Basha. The students were familiarized with the University's institutional profile, history, academic vision and its role in higher education.

An overview of the School of Sciences was subsequently presented, enabling students to understand the academic structure of the School and the various programmes and departments functioning under it.

The students were then introduced to the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, including its objectives, academic programmes and skill-oriented approach. Particular emphasis was placed on the Department's focus on developing skilled, employable technical healthcare professionals.

The various programmes offered by the Department were introduced to the newly admitted students, including B.Voc. Medical Imaging Technology (MIT), B.Voc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), B.Voc. Emergency & Trauma Care Technology (ETT), M.Voc. Medical Imaging Technology, M.Voc. Medical Laboratory Technology and Ph.D. programmes.

The presentation also provided an overview of the academic structure of the vocational programmes, including classroom teaching, practical sessions, clinical training and internship opportunities. Students were encouraged to understand the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical and clinical skills.

The students were also briefed about the laboratory facilities and infrastructure available within the Department. The importance of practical learning, skill development and active participation in departmental academic activities such as workshops, seminars, extension lectures and invited lectures was highlighted.

An orientation regarding clinical exposure, training and career opportunities was also provided. Students were encouraged to develop professional competencies, practical skills, communication abilities and ethical values required for successful careers in the healthcare and allied health sciences sector.

The programme further introduced the students to the faculty and staff members of the Department, helping them become familiar with the academic personnel associated with their respective programmes.

The Dean, School of Sciences, and Nodal Officer interacted with the newly admitted students and provided guidance regarding their academic journey, discipline, regular attendance, practical learning and professional development. Their interaction provided students with an opportunity to understand the expectations of the University and the Department.

The induction session also encouraged students to actively participate in academic, extracurricular and skill-development activities and to make effective use of the facilities and opportunities available within the University.

Outcome of the Event

The Deeksharambh – Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2025–26 successfully oriented the newly admitted students of the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development to the University, School of Sciences, Department, academic programmes, faculty, infrastructure, practical and clinical training, and career opportunities.

The programme helped students gain a clear understanding of the structure and expectations of their respective programmes and familiarized them with the skill-based, practical and employability-oriented approach of the Department.

The participation of the Dean, School of Sciences, and Nodal Officer provided valuable academic guidance and strengthened the interaction between the university administration, faculty and newly admitted students.

The dedicated departmental session, conducted from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the CSE Building, served as an effective platform for welcoming and orienting the new students and preparing them for their academic and professional journey at MANUU.
