Profile of Mohd Akram Khan

Dr. Mohd Akram Khan is an applied linguist and language education specialist currently serving as Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) in the Department of English at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, where he has been teaching since September 2023. Prior to this, he worked as Guest Faculty at Punjabi University, Patiala, and has also taught postgraduate diploma courses in Linguistics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). His teaching experience spans undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma-level programmes, with a strong focus on linguistics and English language education.

Dr. Khan holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Aligarh Muslim University, where his doctoral research examined the English writing skills of Urdu–Hindi speakers through a detailed linguistic error analysis at the senior secondary level. He also earned an M.Phil. in Applied Linguistics from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, and an M.A. and B.A. (Hons.) in Linguistics from AMU. He qualified the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) in 2015, underscoring his academic merit and eligibility for higher education teaching in India.

An active researcher, Dr. Khan has published scholarly articles in UGC CARE-listed and international journals, including studies on ESL writing errors, legal English, and translation. His research work reflects a strong engagement with applied linguistic methodologies, learner corpus analysis, and pedagogical implications for non-native English learners. He has also contributed book chapters on media discourse and phonological networks, published by reputed academic publishers.

Dr. Khan has presented research papers at several national and international conferences, including events organized by the Linguistic Society of Nepal, CIIL, Punjabi Linguistics Association, and Aligarh Muslim University. In addition to his research contributions, he has played an active academic leadership role as a Session Chair and Conference Organizer at an international conference hosted by MANUU in 2024.

His academic training is complemented by extensive workshop participation in research methodology, language endangerment, computational linguistics, and documentation of tribal and endangered languages. He also possesses hands-on fieldwork experience in psycholinguistics, phonological analysis, and computational linguistics projects.

Dr. Khan has completed additional professional qualifications in Guidance and Counseling, Translation Studies, and Arabic, and is proficient in Urdu, English, Hindi, Braj, Arabic, and Punjabi. His broader academic interests include student-centered pedagogy, academic writing development, and the integration of linguistic theory with classroom practice.
