Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development

The Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, represents a progressive approach to higher education—where academic knowledge meets professional skill, technology meets healthcare, and education translates into employability and service to society.

Established in 2025 under the School of Sciences, the Department is dedicated to developing a new generation of skilled, competent and industry-ready healthcare professionals. Its academic foundation has evolved from MANUU's successful initiatives, including Bachelors programmes in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and Medical Imaging Technology (MIT), followed by postgraduate programmes and the introduction of Emergency & Trauma Care Technology (ETT).

The Department also offers an interdisciplinary academic environment encompassing Bachelors and Masters programmes in Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Imaging Technology, Emergency & Trauma Care Technology, and Ph.D. in Medical Laboratory Sciences , aligning its academic vision with the broader objectives of the Skill India programme and the growing demands of the healthcare sector.

At its core, the Department follows a skill-driven, practice-oriented and industry-responsive model of education. Well-equipped laboratories, practical training, workshops, seminars, extension lectures and academic collaborations provide students with opportunities to transform theoretical learning into professional competence. Its collaborations with leading healthcare institutions, including Medicover Hospitals and Omega Hospitals, further strengthen exposure to contemporary practices and emerging developments in allied health and vocational sciences.

The Department also places strong emphasis on innovation, research, continuous curriculum development and professional development. With academic autonomy and a commitment to competency-based education, it continually seeks to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare requirements.

With a clear vision of “Skill, Knowledge, Innovation and Employability,” the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development aspires to become a dynamic academic hub for allied health and vocational education—empowering learners with the expertise, confidence and professional values required to contribute meaningfully to modern healthcare and society.
