Radio MANUU inaugurated by DG, AIR Rajeev Kumar Jain

 

Hyderabad :

The Community Radio is a useful medium of communication for Educational institutions because of its cost effectiveness, convenience, portability and flexibility of content formats. Though it has a reach of 16 km, its reach can be maximized through social media platform, said Shri Rajeev Kumar Jain, Director General, All India Radio, Prasar Bharati, Ministry of I&B, GoI today at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). He was addressing as the Chief Guest during the inaugural ceremony of launching Community Radio Station “Radio MANUU 90.0 FM”. The Radio MANUU will be run by Instructional Media Centre (IMC) of MANUU. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, MANUU presided over the event.

Shri Rajeev Kumar Jain inaugurated the Station Logo & ID of Radio MANUU. The teaser and radio jingle were also displayed on the occasion. While appreciating the initiative of starting community radio he said that first momentum will carry off radio stations for 6 months when people will just tune in signature tune and probably after sometime they will get hooked on to the content.

 He informed that a total 560 community radio stations are functioning across the country and out of these nearly 38% are run by educational institutions. The community radio is a medium empowering people; owned and managed by their own people and cater to the needs of their own people. Its growth also supports the government's vision of inclusive communication and outreach, he further added.

 He hoped that MANUU radio will help in achieving University mandate of nation building through knowledge dissemination. He said that Aakashvani has always played an important role by supporting community radios and has assured that good content can also be played on Akashvani. He also invited talented individuals to associate with Akashvani Radio Station.

 While highlighting the importance of the radio, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said through this platform we can exchange our ideas, capture larger audiences beyond the campus and our range can transcend boundaries and this is how it becomes useful for MANUU.

 Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar in his address said Radio MANUU is a powerful asset and an invaluable addition to our outreach programme. It opens a new pathway to connect with communities, share knowledge and to bring University closer to the people to be served. He congratulated the IMC Director and his team for making the campus, a campus with a radio called MANUU Radio.

 Mr. Rizwan Ahamd, Director, IMC, delivered the welcome address. According to him Radio MANUU is a massive outreach programme, that will provide the platform of diversity of cultural programmes ranging from language, literature, history, heritage, nutrition, environment, programmes. He informed that many eminent persons recorded these programmes with great interest. He also thanked State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Shaheen Group of Institutions for their support in organizing the programme.

 Dr. Md. Imtiyaz Alam convened the programme and Mr. Omar Azmi proposed a vote of thanks.

 Later, Radio Gallery and Studio was also inaugurated whereas the live broadcast session featuring Shri Rajeev Kumar Jain and Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan was hosted by RJ Md. Aamir Badr.
