
MANUU starts orientation of Madarsa Principals in Bihar under UNFPA project
“Adolescence Education Program (AEP) shall be a milestone in bringing qualitative improvement in Madarsas. It is the responsibility of the Madarsa Principals to successfully implement the project”. These views were expressed by Mr. Abdul Qayyum Ansari, Chairman, Bihar State Madrassa Board, at the inauguration of five day Orientation Program for Madarsa Principals held on November 25.
Maulana Azad National Urdu University in coordination with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is conducting Orientation Program from 25th to 27th and 29th to 30th November 2020 at Youth Hostel, Patna, Bihar. This is the first phase of training for Madarsas Principals from 24 districts of Bihar under AEP in Madarsas of Bihar. An average of 100 Madarsas Principals are invited for one day orientation covering a total of 498 Madrasas for training.
Mr. Ansari appreciated the role of UNFPA in conceptualizing this project for enhancing the life skills, capacities and agency of Madarsa students. He commended the efforts of MANUU in the successful implementation of the project in Purnia and Katihar districts of Bihar.
Maulana Shibli Qasmi, Nazim-e-Ala, Imaarat-e-Sharia, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha also graced the occasion and expressed his satisfaction over the activities being started in Madarsas.
Prof. Mohd. Shahid, Project Director (MANUU) in his address said that the purpose of the orientation is to present the details of the project to all Madarsa Principals and to help them visualize their seminal role. He emphasized that the Madarsa Principals are expected to provide leadership to this project and ensure that the teachers shall undertake transactions with their students.
Prof. Faiz Ahmad, Principal MANUU CTE Darbhanga and Project Coordinator explained the context and larger benefits of this project in bringing overall change in Madarsas. The farsightedness of UNFPA team led by Dr Mohammad Nadeem Noor to conceive, design and implement this project for the students of Madarsas is highly commendable, he said.
Ms. Neha Mallick from UNFPA, Patna facilitated this orientation training and Mr. Shafeeque Ahmad compered the inaugural session.
