NEP aims to transfer India into Knowledge Society: Dr. Kasturirangan

National Education Policy 2020 aims to transfer India into a knowledge society with special focus on high quality of research work. Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Chairman, NEP, expressed these views today while addressing the inaugural episode of E-content production on NEP by the Instructional Media Centre (IMC) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.

He appreciated the efforts by MANUU to develop e-content on NEP and said “Creation of Video library that MANUU is planning is certainly a very important, critical and probably an imperative step as we move towards implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the near future.

Throwing light on NEP, Dr. Kasturirangan who was the chief guest said that we need to learn NEP through people who are interested in education, with different languages, culture and social background. NEP is the need of the hour, it is not just reading of the document but understanding, analyzing, interpreting and getting a picture of it, several steps we need to put together, he added. He also highlighted on the important features of the policy which include flexibility, interconnectivity, religious diversity etc. He also spoke about the background of NEP.

 

Prof. S M Rahmatullah, in his presidential address said that MANUU had provided input on this policy before its formation. He said that New Policy is comprehensive and unique in different ways. It targets at revamping the focus on school to college education. The policy is remarkable as it got benefited with past, foreseen the future and it is also present and future oriented. The new policy has shifted knowledge based education to knowledge plus skill based, memorization methods to competence judgement method, discipline to multiple discipline and inter discipline, extra-curricular, curricular activities to holistic activities etc., he added. Speaking on the significance of the policy, he said with this policy Science students can even learn arts and management without disturbing their core subject and vice-versa. The success of this policy is that it is being communicated properly to the people and in this endeavor MANUU’s IMC is also working hard, he pointed out.

Earlier, Prof. Siddiqui Mohammad Mahmood, Registrar I/c, welcomed the chief guest and briefed about the mandate of MANUU. He was also the moderator of the inaugural session. To develop e-content on NEP is a historic decision, he remarked.

Production of E-Content on NEP and inviting Dr. Kasturirangan to the inaugural was conceptualized and coordinated by Mr. Rizwan Ahmad, Director IMC and his team.

MANUU Distance Programmes – Today last date

 Hyderabad: The extended last date for admission into distance programmes of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) will end on December 22.

According to Prof. Abul Kalam, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, online submission of application form for admissions in M.A. (Urdu, English, History, Hindi, Islamic Studies & Arabic), B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. (Life Sciences - BZC and Physical Sciences - MPC), Diploma courses (Teach English and Journalism & Mass Communication) and Certificate courses (Proficiency in Urdu through English & Functional English for Urdu Speakers) is available at “ADMISSIONS” on the Directorate’s website manuu.edu.in/dde. The form is to be submitted online with Registration Fee of Rs. 300/- for all programmes.

 National Urdu Social Science Congress to begin today at MANUU

 

Hyderabad: School of Arts and Social Sciences (SA&SS) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing the Fourth National Urdu Social Science Congress online on December 22 and 23, 2020.  

The main theme of the congress is “Social Sciences: Decline & Resurgence”.

The inaugural session will be held on December 22 at 10 a.m. All the sessions will be streamed live on https://youtu.be/YWkj6YbexSY and www.youtube.com/imcmanuu. Separate link shall be shared with the participants and the presenters.

Prof S M Rahmatullah, Vice Chancellor I/c will preside over the inaugural session and Padma Shri Prof Akhtarul Wasey, President, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur will be the Chief Guest. Prof Shahid Amin, formerly with Delhi University will deliver keynote address and Prof Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar I/c, MANUU will deliver welcome address. Distinguished guest, Prof Vibhuti Patel, formerly with Advanced Center for Women Studies, TISS, Mumbai will also address and Prof Shahida, co-convenor and head, dept of women education will brief about the Congress. Vote of thanks by Prof K M Ziyauddin, Department of Sociology. Dr. AmeenaTahseen, Dept. of Women Education is the convenor of the inaugural session.

Prof Afroz Alam and Dr Kaneez Zehra will be the chairpersons for the first technical session whereas Prof Farida Siddiqui and Dr Danish Moin are the chairpersons for the second technical session. Prof. P H Mohammed and Prof Shahid Raza will be the chairpersons for the third technical session whereas chairpersons for the fourth technical session are Prof Shahida and Prof Fahim Akhtar.
