Additional Information
MANUU has established few centres to implement its vision, mission and core values in addition to the department of studies and research. These centres do not offer any degree program, but help in providing value added courses and research impetus in the University. The idea is to specifically promote Urdu culture, provide training to prospective Urdu teachers, focus on women education, activities and contribution etc.
The names and activities of the centre are as follows:
Centre for Urdu Culture Studies (CUCS)
CUCS (previously known as Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture (CULLC)), was established to protect and promote aesthetical and cultural values of Urdu. CUCS serves as archive, museum, library and a cultural research space for Urdu studies. It has two galleries: one on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, and the other on MANUU in pictorial form. Its library collection consists of about 5000 rare and valuable books, 4,000 magazines, and 200 manuscripts. CUCS offers value added courses and workshops on Creative Writing, Dastangoi, Ghazal Sarai Course (six months) and Calligraphy etc. It has also launched a Drama Club, which has been producing plays in Urdu.
Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (CPDUMT)
CPDUMT was established in 2006 for the professional development of Urdu teachers. It organises orientation programmes, professional training courses as well as other activities to advance professional skills of Urdu medium teachers.
Haroon Khan Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies (HKSCDS)
Established in 2012 HKSCDS aims at studying Deccan, its history, culture, languages, literature and architecture. It is named after the renowned Deccan historian and author, Haroon Khan Sherwani, whose contribution to the study of the Deccan is vastly unsurpassed.
Center for Women Studies (CWS)
CWS was established in 2005. It has been engaged in extension activities which highlight women issues. It aims to promote gender equality and focuses on women empowerment through establishing network among women researchers, lobbyists, and policy planners.
UGC-Human Resource Development Centre
MANUU has a UGC-HRD Centre which has conducted 71 training pogrammes, 68 for teaching and 03 for non-teaching staff in the past five years.
