MANUU pays glowing tributes to Prof. Khalid Saeed Online Condolence Meeting held today

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) paid rich tributes to Prof. Khalid Saeed, former Head, Department of Urdu, MANUU who passed away yesterday in Hyderabad following cardiac arrest at the age of 71 years. He was first Professor appointed for the campus based courses and was also the founder Head of Urdu Department. Prof. Saeed was also a well known Urdu poet, writer and critic.
Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Vice Chancellor I/c and Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c recalled the invaluable services of Prof. Khalid Saeed and expressed their deep condolences to bereaved family members.
Prof. Khalid Saeed joined the University on September 17, 2004 and was superannuated on September 30, 2015. He was also appointed as Director I/c of Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture, MANUU which is presently known as Centre for Urdu Culture Studies. Prof. Saeed served in different capacities as the first Dean (School of Languages), Chief Warden (Boys and Girls Hostels), besides serving as Vice-Chancellor I/c of MANUU on multiple occasions and was also member of Executive and Academic Councils. He played a significant role in designing the syllabi for BA, MA and MPhil programs of Urdu department. He also started short term innovative courses Tehseen e Ghazal (Ghazal appreciation) & Amozish-e-Urdu (Urdu Learning) in the department. He popularized Urdu language among the non-Urdu speakers through these courses. He was a good poet, researcher, critic and a popular teacher. He also received several awards, including the Karnataka Urdu Academy Award.
An online condolence meeting was held today at the university.
Prof. Rahmatullah in his address described Prof. Khalid Saeed as a humble, sincere and a committed teacher who played an important role in establishing Urdu Department. He also pointed out towards Certificate course in Calligraphy which was started by Prof. Saeed. He also published a book “Learn Urdu” for IAS & IPS trainees whom he used to teach innovative courses, said Prof. Rahmatullah. Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood read out the condolence resolution on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. P F Rahman, Prof. Abul Kalam, Prof. Farooq Bakshi, Prof. Naseemuddin Farees, Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, Dr. Shamsul Hoda, Dr. Bibi Raza Khatoon, Dr. Firoz Alam also expressed their condolences by recalling his excellent teachings skills; honesty and commitment towards safe guarding the mandate of the MANUU. Prof. Shugufta Shaheen also read out the message of Prof. Amina Kishore in the meeting. One of the students of Tahseen-e-Ghazal course, Dr. Qurratulain Hasan also paid tribute to him in the meeting. Large number of MANUU fraternity from all over the country joined the online meeting and expressed their condolences.
