Prof. Azimuddin delivers Teacher’s Day lecture at MANUU

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan& Maulana Abul Kalam Azad both were of the view that Religion is a binding force not a dividing factor”. Prof. Shaikh Azimuddin, Former Dean (Education), Integral University, Lucknow expressed the view today, while delivering online lecture on “Role of Education and Teacher in Society” organized by the School of Education and Training, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in connection with Teacher’s Day. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor presided over.

Prof. Azimuddin while discussing the role of education and teacher said both Dr. Radhakrishnan& Maulana Azad made significant contribution in the field of education and knowledge.The services rendered by Maulana Azad for politics and journalism are unforgettable. Similarly, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also rendered significant services in the field of education. He studied Hindu philosophy in depth, became the Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University and then the first Vice President and second President of Independent India.

Giving example of teacher-student relationship of Aristotle & Alexander, Prof. Azimuddin said education is meantfor creating high morals, using common sense and developing the soul.Good teacher continues to work hard for making things better as they are the architect of the nation. Education is not just about getting degrees, it is about benefiting people, he added.

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his presidential speech said students used to observe teachers and learn a lot from them. Therefore, the teacher must make himself worthy of it and should always be thirsty for knowledge. He said that the tradition of Guru Shishya in India dates back to the Gurukal period where student gets both education and training. Throwing light on importance of education through couplet, Prof. Hasan said that Guru means light. Giving example of how to respect elders, he said that moral education has also been mentioned in NEP. Narrating the story of Maulana Rumi, he said that people should acquire knowledge in such a way that they can enjoy it.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c & Dean, School of Education & Training who was the convenor of the programme while addressing said that good citizens are the asset for the society. Even though we have good infrastructure, best teachers, but at the same time we are facing dearth of good teachers. It is the responsibility of teachers to know their flaws and try level best to become a role model for their students.

Prof. Mohd. Moshahid, Head, Dept. of Education & Training & coordinator programme in his introductory speech provided the information about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Ashwani, Associate Professor, proposed vote of thanks.

Earlier, Assistant Professors - Dr. Jarrar Ahamad paid tribute to retired & departed teachers of MANUU for their valuable services on the occasion and Mrs. Momin Sumaiya gave introduction of the guest whereas Mr. Ashraf Nawaz compered the programme. Ms.Tarana Yazdani, reserach scholar presented a poem on Teachers' Day. The lecture was webcasted live on IMC-MANUU youtube channel.

MANUU to organize online lecture on “Dandi Yatra” today

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing an online special lecture on “Dandi Yatra” on September 7, 2021, 3.00 pm to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsava” at IMC, MANUU.

According to Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Chairman, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava Committee the lecture is being organized as per the guidelines issued by the UGC & MHRD, Govt. Of India to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence. Dr. Danish Moin, Head Department of History, MANUU will deliver the lecture and Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c will preside over. Dr. Karan Singh Utwal is the convenor of the programme. The lecture will be webcast live on IMC-MANUU youtube channel.
