Create English learning environment - Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood Seminar on Teaching English concludes at MANUU

Teachers must create a suitable environment of English learning, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar I/c of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) expressed the view yesterday at the valedictory session of the 2-Day virtual seminar “Teaching English Online”, organized by Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (CPDUMT). The seminar covered various aspects of teaching English in online mode.

Prof. Siddiqui urged teachers to ensure that learners are encouraged to learn through interaction. He pointed out to the fact that a person with good communication skills, along with required competence, has fair chances of a successful career.

Speaking as the Guest, Prof. Dhanajay Singh from Jawaharlal Nehru University said that digital mode of education democratises learning, makes it individual centric and opens up opportunity to access visual texts. The use of literature in language classroom allows discussing various aspects of language, he noted.

According to Prof. Mohammed Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director,CPDUMT, seminar was attended by teachers, lecturers, research scholars and university faculty from Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir.

The sessions were broadcast live on YouTube channel of Instructional Media Centre (IMC), MANUU.

 

MANUU’s Department of Social Work Offers Admission in MSW

 Hyderabad: 

Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a central university where the social work department offers a two-year Master of Social Work (MSW) programme. Within the ambit of social sciences, social work is regarded as a job-oriented discipline in the university system. For years, it has been seen that by the end of the course, students get through a good few job offers in governmental and non-governmental organizations. The fast-changing sector looks for competent social workers. In this backdrop, the professional courses like MSW are also in high demand.

The blended curriculum of theory and practice is what makes social work more prominent among other traditional courses. MANUU social work alumni tell having studied social work through Urdu medium they got their due positions and thrive in the different fields of social work practice and compete with the social workers from the well-known social work institutions. The course curriculum consisting of bi-weekly fieldwork, group interactions, skill-acquisition exercises and theory classes enable them to harness their professional abilities to empower the marginalized and needy people while in the field. The teachers in the department are always available to engage students in meaningful activities across semesters. Besides theory classes and fieldwork components, there are so many other curricular and co-curricular activities happening, by the virtue of which students develop critical lenses and abilities to think and work innovatively.  

The department urges that interested applicants with 45% marks in any Bachelor’s degree/equivalent with knowledge of Urdu at 10th, 12th or graduation level may apply for MSW. The second and fourth semester students of MSW were placed for internship in twenty non-governmental organizations during this summer. SAFA Society (Hyderabad), Borderless World Foundation (Kashmir), ActionAid Association (Lucknow), CHETNA (Lucknow), Ashray Adhikar Abhiyan (New Delhi), EFRAH (New Delhi), KK Charitable Trust (a CSR of Yash Pakka, Faizabad), Pratham Education Foundation (Ranchi Chapter) Mithila Gram Vikas Parishad (Darbhanga), Bihar Grameen Jagrukta Abhiyan Samiti (Begu Sarai), Rehab India Foundation (Katihar), Creation Welfare Society (Muzaffarpur), Amanat Foundation (Kolkata) and UDAAN Society (Aligarh) are some of the worth mentioning organizations.
