MANUU - Azad Day Celebrations begins today

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University is celebrating birth anniversary of Maulana Azad, first education minister of independent India from November 3 to 11.

According to Dr. Ahamad Khan, Convenor, Azad Day Celebrations Committee MANUU the Chief Guest, Prof. Khaja Nasiruddin, Director, VRK Women’s Medical College teaching Hospital and Research Centre will inaugurate Azad Day celebrations 2021 by addressing the students of MANUU Model School in Vattepalli, near Falaknuma on November 3, 11-00 am. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, MANUU will preside over.

MANUU is organizing a flurry of activities to commemorate the occasion. On 11th November Maulana Azad’s Birth Anniversary, which is also celebrated as National Education day, Azad Memorial Lecture will be organized. Eminent Legal Expert & the Vice-Chancellor of Nalsar University, Prof. Faizan Mustafa will deliver Memorial lecture. Dr. A. Nagender Reddy, Director, Salarjung Museum, Hyderabad and Dr. S. Chinnam Reddy, Director, National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management will be the guests of honour. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan will be presiding the lecture.

The Bait Bazi (Poetry reciting Competitions) will also be organized online on November 3 at 11.00 am.

 

Earth Scientist, Prof. Shakeel Ahmed elected Fellow of TWAS, Italy

Hyderabad:

Eminent Earth Scientist Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, who has recently joined as a Consultant at School of Sciences, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), has been elected fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to science and its promotion in the developing world. The world academy based at Trieste, Italy was established in 1983 by a group of distinguished scientists from the developing world. It supports sustainable prosperity through research, education, policy and diplomacy.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor MANUU congratulated Prof. Shakeel Ahmed for this achievement.

Before joining MANUU Prof. Shakeel Ahmed has been working as Emeritus Scientist of CSIR and Emeritus Professor of AcSIR both at NGRI, Hyderabad. He is also the fellow of National Academy of Sciences of India (NASI), Geological Society of India, National Environmental Science Academy, Telangana Academy of Sciences. He worked on groundwater hydrology throughout his scientific career of 40 years. He has also been closely associated with UNESCO; He has been instrumental in the National Aquifer Mapping program of the Govt of India.

Prof. Ahmed also worked as M.K. Gandhi Chair Professor at the Centre for Disaster Management, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has led an Indo-French Centre for Groundwater Research (IFCGR) for about 2 decades as its founder head.

 

Youth Future Leaders of Nation - Prof. Ainul Hasan

Second phase of SIP inaugurated at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Students are the future leaders of the nation and ambassadors of peace. Disposition and ethics are the ornaments of youth, preceding every other value. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University said yesterday in the inaugural session of Second Phase of six-day Student Induction Programme-2021 (Deeksharambh) organized online for newly admitted students.

Quoting Plato, Prof. Hasan said "The measure of a man is what he does with power". Also, stories from the Panchatantra provide an excellent base for morals, he added.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar Incharge, speaking on life skills, stressed on the importance of knowing and preparing self not just how to attain success, but also how to handle setbacks. 

Prof. Naseemuddin Farees, Dean, School of Languages, talking about Human Values through Literature, said that human values like respect, compassion, truth, justice, honesty, peace and discipline form the crux of human existence.

Prof. Mohammed Abdul Sami Siddiqi, Chairperson, SIP Task Group, welcomed the students, while Dr. Kahkashan Lateef, Convener, SIP Task Group, proposed the vote of thanks. The session was hosted by Dr. Jarrar Ahamad, Assistant Dean, Students Welfare.
