Online Urdu Job Mela and Counseling Center inaugurated at MANUU

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today launched first of it’s kind Urdu Job Mela in the country in online mode. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor while inaugurating the Mela announced that Urdu University will try it’s best to facilitate placements of it’s passed out students. MANUU has also established Career Counselling Centre (CCC) to help the University student’s and other candidates with Urdu background in obtaining suitable jobs or starting a self employment.
More than 2500 candidates registered for the job mela from all over the country will be interviewed by 50 plus companies online during one month. Prof. Hasan declared it as a continuous process. He appreciated all the organizers of the event who put their best efforts to make the mela a huge success. He also expressed his best wishes for the registered candidates.
The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that this mela was supposed to be held physically on 6th January, 2022 but University didn’t want to take risk in view of Covid precautions announced by the Telangana Government.
Prof S M Rahmatullah, Pro Vice Chancellor described the Mela and establishment of Counselling Centre as historic in the annals of MANUU.
Prof. SK. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, Prof. Saneem Fatima, Prof. Abdul Wahid, Prof. Mohammed Fariyad, Dr. Syed Imtiyaz Hassan, Dr. Mutyala Rao, Dr. Reshma Nikhat and Members of Career Counselling Committee - Dr. Wali ur Rahman, Mr. Mohammed Khasim attended the inaugural.
Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Khan, coordinator Job Mela & Training and Placement Cell I/c, welcomed the gathering & briefed about the details of this exercise.
Dr. Syed Asghar Mahmood, Member Job Mela spoke about the aims & objectives of the Caree & Counselling Centre. More than 150 companies will be in line, he revealed.
Dr. Syed Salahuddin, Deputy Training Officer & CCC Member proposed vote of thanks and Mr. Ashraf Nawaz, Asst. Training & Placement Officer & Asst. Professor (E&T) convened the programme.

International Urdu Social Science Congress concludes at MANUU

In recent years the social science discourse, particularly Sociology, has moved away from examining social and lived reality of marginal and deprived groups, the reason of which is continuous disconnect between the abstract theoretical presuppositions and lived social experience. Prof. Muhammad Talib, Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford, pointed out yesterday in the valedictory session of the International Urdu Social Sciences Congress “Social Sciences in South Asia” organized by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), School of Arts and Social Sciences (SA&SS).
Prof. Talib while delivering valedictory address identified the gradual decline after 1947 in dealing with critical questions in Social Sciences. He requested social scientists to ask tough questions like poverty, health, education, social and economic oppression and reasons for increasing marginality in society with more and more field-based researches.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, Padma Shree and Emeritus Professor, JMI, suggested the possibility of Indian secular model as the best and exemplar for the whole world. He stressed the need to initiate dialogue with the diverse and multi-religious Indian society to establish peace and strengthen the secular values of Indian republic.

The chief guest, Prof. Seyda Seydain Hameed, Former Chancellor, MANUU & Former member of planning commission nostalgically remembered how MANUU came into being and acknowledged the role of the Urdu intellectuals in this endeavour. She also touched upon the increasing intolerance in Indian society, which threatens the very fabric of Indian secular society.
Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Kaw, Rtd. Prof, Dept. of History, MANUU & guest of honour, lamented the lack of funds being allocated to the social science research. He asked the scholars to be more fearless and objective in their approach and forge academic collaborations with other institutions.
Prof. Farida Siddiqui, Dean, SA & SS &, and Convenor, IUSSC presented a brief report of the Congress.
Two plenary sessions and 9 technical sessions were conducted during the Congress. In the two plenary sessions, renowned speakers from different disciplines of Social sciences delivered special lectures on their respective fields of study. The total number of papers presented in the Congress was 89, of which 34 were presented by female scholars.
