Partition an unimaginable horror - Prof. Ainul Hasan Seminar on “Depiction of Partition in Urdu Literature” held at MANUU

Partition of India was definitely a horror of unimaginable scale as it was not just partition of the country but a partition of the families, relations & friendship. And often when people leave the country they face many difficulties and strange situations. These views were expressed today by Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in the inaugural of one day national seminar “Depiction of Partition in Urdu Literature”.
The Department of Sociology, MANUU in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, (Janpada Division - Ministry of Culture, Government of India) organized the seminar to observe ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ and to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence under the programme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Speaking as the chief guest, Prof. Ainul Hasan said that in Urdu literature lot of work depicting partition has been done in the form of short stories and novels. The tragedy of partition of the country has been portrayed in poetry & short stories also. This has become inseparable part of Urdu literature. India is a big country, there are many diversities, different cultures and regions. Today's youth definitely is patriotic, he added. He also lit the lamp to mark the occasion. Two minutes silence was also observed to honor the millions who suffered and sacrificed during the partition.
Earlier, Prof. P. H. Mohammad, Head, Department of Sociology and Convener gave brief introduction about the seminar and Dr. Md. Ehtesham Akhtar, Guest Faculty & Co-convener Seminar welcomed the guests.
Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Dean, School of Education & Training and Dr. Danish Moin, Head, Department of History chaired the sessions. Prof. Mohd. Naseemuddin Farees, Former Dean, School of Languages, Linguistics & Indology, MANUU spoke on Partition with reference to Krishan Chander whereas Prof. Shagufta Shaheen, Head, Department of English presented paper on “Depiction of Partition in Qurratul Ain Hyder’s works”. In another session, Dr. K. M. Ziyauddin, spoke on “Experiences of partition as social & cultural separation” and Dr. Md. Ehtesham Akhtar spoke about “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on Partition: With Reference to his writtings in Urdu”. All thepresenters, covering different disciplines, dwelt upon different dimensions of depiction of partition of the country in Urdu literature.
The Assistant Professors - Dr. Saheed Meo presented Seminar Report and Dr. K. M. Ziyauddin, proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Md Ehtesham Akhtar conducted the programme.
Tiranga Yatra by MANUU students at Charminar

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) NCC Sub unit of 1 (Telangana) Arty Bty along with NSS Cell is organizing Tiranga Yatra by MANUU students on August 12, 2022, 8.00 am at historic Charminar, Hyderabad.
According to Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Coordinator, NSS cell, Tiranga Yatra is being organized to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence under the programme of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav and Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Syed Shahzadi visits MANUU campus

Ms. Syed Shahzadi, Member, National Commission for Minorities (NCM), New Delhi visited Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today and held discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Registrar, Prof. SK. Ishtiaque Ahmed along with senior officials and teachers of the University.
Ms. Shahzadi assured maximum support to MANUU from the Commission and Minority Affairs Minister, Ms. Smriti Irani. She also expressed keen interest in developing the hostel facility specially for the girls. She requested the University to prepare a booklet containing introduction of Islam to be presented to the Ministry.
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, hoped that Ms. Syed Shahzadi will be helpful in accessing the resources to solve University's problems.
The centers for skill development at MANUU can be further developed with the support from Ministry of Minority Affairs as per the National Education Policy, he said.
Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed welcomed the guest. Ms. Syed Shahzadi also visited Gulzar Girls Hostel and interacted with the students.
MANUU Staff Member Mr. C. Shafi Ahmed passed away
Hyderabad:
Mr. C. Shafi Ahmed, Son of Mr. Khaleel Ahmed, LDC, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, passed away yesterday at the age of 38 years after a brief illness. Mr. Shafi Ahmed had joined MANUU on April 20, 2015.
A condolence meeting was held today at the University to pay tribute to departed soul.
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. SK. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. A condolence resolution was also adopted. Large number of MANUU fraternity attended the meeting.
