Elimination of Violence and Discrimination against Women Pakhwada MANUU to hold talks on ‘Cyber Stalking & Abuse’ and ‘Emotional & Mental Violence’

Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s (MANUU) Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in association with the Department of Women Education and MANUU Drama Club is conducting talks on ‘Cyber Stalking and Cyber Abuse against Women’ and ‘Emotional and Mental Violence against Women’ on December 09, 2022 to observe Elimination of Violence and Discrimination against Women Pakhwada.
The guest speakers - Ms. Sunitha, Inspector of Police, Cyberabad Women’s Police Station and Ms. Jameela Nishat, Founder-Director, Shaheen Collective will be delivering talks to spread awareness and for sensitization. Prof Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor will preside over the programme. MANUU Drama Club will be presenting Skit Aurat adapted from Safdar Hashmi’s play on the occasion. Mime show: Gudiya and Parinda a Musical Play will also be presented.
According to Prof. Gulfishan Habeeb, Chairperson, ICC, several events such as movie screening, competitions on slogan writing, poster presentation, short film, documentary film and photography contests on the theme ‘Violence against Women’ were organized during the 16 day Campaign. The last day of the campaign will be observed as Day of Introspection on December 10, 2022.
Prof Ishtiyaq Ahmed, Registrar inaugurated the campaign on November 25. A film “Thappad” directed by Mr. Anubhav Sinha was also screened followed by discussion on the film and women issues on the occasion. The University Drama Club held its monthly open mic event “Ignited Minds” on Violence against women on December 05 wherein twelve students presented Mono acting, Mimicry, Elocution, Poetry etc.
International Conference on Educational Transformations at MANUU

The Department of Sociology, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (manuu) is organizing the 12th International Conference of Comparative Education Society of India (CESI), on the theme ‘Educational Transformations: Crisis and Resilience’ from 9 - 11 December 2022.
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor will chair the inaugural Session on December 9, 2022, 9:30 am. Prof. V. S. Raju, Former Director, IIT, Delhi will be the Guest of Honour. Prof. Yusuf Sayed from the University of Sussex, UK will present the Keynote Address on “Crises, The State and Education Policy making for Social Justice”. Prof Nandini Manjrekar, President CESI will also address and Dr Jyoti Dalal, General Secretary will speak about the CESI. The Conference Convener, Prof. P. H. Mohammad, Head, Department of Sociology will deliver welcome address. Dr Saheed Meo, Assistant Professor & Conference Organising Secretary will introduce the theme and will propose vote of thanks.
According to Prof. P. H. Mohammad, the aim of the conference is to focus on educational transformations in India. The papers and presentations will cover the diverse aspects focusing on sub-themes of the respective Research Interest Groups (RIGs) of the CESI.
The Valedictory session will be held on December 11, 2022 which will be Chaired by Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar. Prof. Maxine Berstein, Professor Emerita, TISS will be the Guest of Honour. Prof. Deepak Kumar, Formerly Professor JNU, Honorary Professor, MANUU will present valedictory address on “Quest for Knowledge: A Historical Perspective” and Prof. P. H. Mohammad will give concluding remarks. Dr Saheed Meo will present the Conference Report and Dr K. M. Ziyauddin, Assistant Professor will propose vote of thanks.
