The Government of India has initiated special policies and plans to provide SCs/STs/OBCs/EWSs/PwDs access to education. The Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes Cell was established by the University in the year 2004 as per sanctioned received from the University Grants Commission to provide facilities to the SC/ST/OBC/EWSs/PwD employees & students of the University as per the direction of Govt. of India from time to time. The objectives of “SC/ST/OBC/EWSs/PwD Cell” are as follows:
- To look after the implementation of reservation policy for SCs/STs/OBCs/EWSs/PwDs in the University
- To take such follow up measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India for the above purpose.
- To implement, monitor and evaluate continuously the reservation policies in the University for ensuring effective implementation of the policy and programmes of the Government of India
The University adopts the reservation policy as per Govt. of India norms i.e. 15% for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, 27% for Other Backward Classes,10% for Economically Weaker Sections and 4% for Persons with Disabilities. The Cell obtains the information of total number of teaching and non-teaching employees and students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWSs/PwD Communities in the University. The details of the collected data are forwarded to the MHRD/UGC/Other Govt. Organizations from time to time.
The University reviews the position and to solve the problems related SCs/STs/OBCs/EWSs/PwDs. The work relating to the implementation of the reservation policy is monitoring by the SC/ST/OBC/EWSs/PwD Cell. There were no cases of caste based
discrimination received so far.
The various activities related SCs/STs/OBCs/EWSs/PwDs in the University are looked after by the following Officers.
