International Conference held at MANUU

The Department of Botany, Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized the two day International Conference on "Plant-Human Interactions for Sustainable Development". Dr. C Tara Satyavathi, Director, ICAR Indian Institute of Millets research, Hyderabad was the chief guest and Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice chancellor presided over the inaugural session.

Dr. C Tara Satyavathi while highlighting the importance of Millets mentioned its nutritional value and insisted on consuming it on a regular basis. She also emphasized that any imbalance in the balanced ecosystem may create chaos in the future. She added that the conference will explore innovative solutions to address sustainability challenges through plant sciences.

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his presidential remarks highlighted the importance of plants in our lives and discussed the issues of awareness for sustainable development. He also raised his concerns on the anthropogenic activities and their effects on the environment.

Prof. H. Aleem Basha, Dean, School of Science also spoke on the occasion. Prof. Fazal Ur Rahaman, Prof. Parveen Jahan, Prof. Salman Ahmed, Prof. Arif Ahmed, Prof. Rafeeq were also present.

The Director of the Conference, Prof. S. Maqbool Ahmad welcomed the gathering. The Convener of the Conference, Dr. Ira Khan briefed about the Conference and added that the aim of the conference is to discuss the critical role of plants in sustainable human development.

Abstract book of the conference, MANUU flora written by Ghafoor un-Nisa and a book written by Dr Mohammad Faizan which was published by Springer was also released on the occasion.

Research scholar Aurusha Fayaz hosted the inaugural session and Dr. Mohammed Faizan proposed vote of thanks.
