4.3 IT Infrastructure 4.3.2 Institution has an IT policy, makes appropriate budgetary provision and updates its IT facilities including Wi-Fi facility

In its initial years, the Centre for Information Technology had setup a LAN using OFC and WiMAX backbone. Since 2016, the center has evolved from a small computing facility to an important central facility. Today the Center offers essential ICT services including Internet Access, E-mailing, IT Security, Wi-Fi, University Portal, Software Development and Maintenance. The Center supports other departments of the university in performing their core functions including the MANUU Library System, Directorate of Admission, Directorate of Distance Education, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Controller of Examinations offices besides providing general ICT support to the entire university.

To provide Internet facility and access to online learning material, the Center administers a 1-GBPS link to National Knowledge Network. 

The complete admission process is online including the collection of admission fee using the Indian Bank Payment Gateway Service. The attendance of students is generated using the centralised database of students. Further, the centralized database of students has been developed to implement Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for allotting Paper Numbers to all courses offered under CBCS in coordination with the Examination Branch.

IP based EPBX facility has been introduced for inter communication connecting all the departments by using existing network of OFC & UTP cables.

To facilitate end users and also to achieve higher order security, the University Management System(iUMS) was offered through two interfaces viz. Browser-based and Windows-based. Each student of MANUU enrolled in any regular programs is provided with an iUMS account for carrying out various students’ related activities. Faculty members and staff have also been given rights to access the iUMS service through their individual accounts.

The iUMS Examinations module is used for generating results of all regular course students. Mark-sheets are generated online. The iUMS accounts have been integrated to claim monthly Fellowship by the Non-Net Fellowship holders. 

A comprehensive Admission Portal is used for conducting admissions for ET & Merit based programs, as well as online Counselling for B.Ed, M.Ed., & Diploma Engineering programmes. Online portal has also been introduced for Convocation registration. To improve communication with students enrolled in Open and Distance Learning(ODL) programmes, SMS services were availed from the C-DAC Mumbai.

The File tracking System Module was introduced in the year 2019 with the objective of improving administrative accountability while dealing with files movement. 

Identity Cards are generated through iUMS 2.0 having QR Codes for Teaching and Non-Teaching employees and students.

The CIT has made necessary provisions to import records of all admitted students in various ODL programmes into the iUMS portal. Students are allotted enrollment numbers using the iUMS.

Online Feedback Systemfor students and teachers is in place and about 3,000 students voluntarily provided their feedback. 

Biometric Attendance System has been introduced for attendanceofTeaching and Non-Teaching staff including Guest Faculty, Contractual and Daily Wage employees through University’s LAN by using 3-BAS machines.

To ensure safety of students, staff and university infrastructure CCTV camera has been installed.

The CIT is committed to make vigorous efforts to fully automate the university's academic and administrative functioning by cherishing modern ICT tools.
