6.2. Strategy Development and Deployment 6.2.1. The institutional Strategic plan is effectively deployed.

The university has a separate Planning & Development Division (P&D Division) which functions directly under the control of the senior functionaries of the university. The P&D division prepares proposals for academic expansion as well as strengthening of the existing teaching departments and centres. During the last five years the following proposals were submitted to the UGC/MHRD for financial support:-

Opening of new campuses:

  1. In order to promote technical and vocation education as mandated under the University Act, based on the proposals submitted by the University, the Government of India through the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education has sanctioned two polytechnics and one Industrial Training Institute  (ITI) at Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh) and Cuttack (Odisha) in Feb, 2017.  The UGC has accordingly sanctioned special funds to the tune of Rs. 40.00 crore for Kadapa and Rs. 49.00 crore for Cuttack campuses in Sept, 2017 for construction of buildings as well as faculty & non-faculty positions. Accordingly, the two polytechnics at Kadapa and Cuttack were made operational/functional from the academic year 2018-19 in transit campuses.  These two polytechnics have now moved into its permanent campuses in 2021. 

Introduction of new academic programmes and improvement of Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER):

  1. Successfully introduced two new Bachelor of Vocational courses (B.Voc.) in 2019-20 under the National Skill Development Qualification Framework (NSQF) from the academic year 2019-20 with corporate collaboration.

  2. To encourage scientific inquiry and research four new Ph.D. programmes (Botany, Chemistry, Physics & Zoology) were introduced in the year 2019-20.

  3. In order to promote scientific research in the University, the Academic Council and Executive Council has approved  four new M.Sc programmes in basic sciences in Botany, Chemistry, Physics and Zoology from the academic year 2022-23 for which the UGC is being requested to sanction additional faculty and non faculty positions.

Quality Mandate for Technical Programmes:

  1. To improve its quality of technical programmes, bringing uniformity, employability of the students etc. the University has adopted the AICTE guidelines for all technical programmes viz. B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, Diploma in Engineering programmes under the School of Technology as well as MBA programme under the School of Commerce and Business Management as per the AICTE Regulations, 2020.  As a result, all these programmes which are being offered at Main Campus at Hyderabad as well as Diploma in Engineering programmes at its satellite campuses located at Kadapa and Cuttack have been granted recognization by the AICTE.

Promotion of Innovation and Setting up of MANUU Incubation Centre

  1. In order to promote innovation, entrepreneurial  student and faculty initiatives, the University joined the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) scheme for Students and Faculty 2019 introduced by the Ministry of Education & AICTE from November, 2020.  Accordingly, NISP Committee has been formed by the University in Feb, 2021 to proceed further in setting up of MANUU incubation Centre with the financial assistance of the Government of India/AICTE.  The draft policy document has been approved by the Academic Council and awaiting approvals from the Executive Council before it has been notified by the University. The University has already having necessary infrastructure in place to accommodate the Incubation Centre. 

Digitisation in the core administrative & financial functions:

  1. Switched over to e-Procurement and Government e-Market Place (GeM).

  2. Achieved near 100% digital payment by the finance division.

Development of new infrastructure for the existing teaching departments/maintained institutions at main campus, Hyderabad and satellite campuses:

  1. Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) Rs.75.97 has sanctioned Rs. 75.97 crore loan for nine ongoing University projects for construction of permanent buildings, hostels, etc. Out of the nine projects, three are meant for Main campus at Hyderabad which includes (a) construction of boys hostel-III (Phase-2), permanent buildings for the School of Technology and School of Commerce & Business Management. The Engineering Division is also monitoring a challenging project for construction of academic infrastructure for College of Arts & Sciences and College of Teacher Education, Regional Centre, DDE at Budgam (J&K). A similar project to construct permanent buildings for the College of Teacher Education and Model School at Nuh (Haryana).

e-Governance and Campus connectivity:

  1. All admission process has been shifted from manual to online over a period of past three years which helped the university to improve enrolment and brought transparency in the admission process.

  2. Because of the development of ERP Academic & Examination Modules the admission data has been used as digital inputs for these modules. This largely benefited admitted students and facilitated a smooth Academic Life Cycle in the university system connecting all the satellite campuses PAN India.

  3. Campus wide Wi-Fi connectivity has been created through National Knowledge Network (NKN) with the financial support by the UGC at main campus.

Digitisation of Library Resources:

  1. A Complete digitisation process of the university library resources were undertaken during the last three years through KOHA software. The entire process of the central library has been automated. The students and Researchers have benefited at large and created an atmosphere for undertaking research in the university.

Strengthening of Extra Curricular activities:

  1. The university has undertaken a number of initiatives to develop the hidden talents of students by holding creative workshops, drama, elocution for development of Urdu culture which is integral part of learning process.

  2. The sports infrastructure has been vastly improved with a view to encourage students to take part in sports events at university level and national level.

  3. As a part of its commitment to nurture leadership qualities and to serve the nation, one NCC unit has been raised at the main campus during the year 2019-20 with sanctioned strength of 100 cadets (boys & girls).

Development of Reading material in Urdu language:

  1. Created a separate unit ‘Directorate of Translation & Publication’ through deployment of existing teaching & non-teaching staff to develop reading material and text books in Urdu for various UG & PG programmes (regular/distance).

Streamlining of HR policies for non-academic staff:

  1. Detailed Recruitment & Promotion Policy for non-academic staff in conformity with the guidelines issued by the Govt. of India and UGC has been notified.
