Meraj Ahmed Mubarki joined Maulana Azad National Urdu University as an Assistant Professor in 2011. He was awarded PhD in 2015 by the University of Calcutta. He teaches courses on Film Studies, Advertising and Market Research, English Journalistic Skills, Communication Research, Media, Law & Society and Print Media & Production. He has contributed articles to Contemporary South AsiaPrint (ISSN: 0958-4935), Indian Journal of Gender Studies(ISSN: 0971-5215), Visual Anthropology(ISSN: 0894-9468), Social Semiotics(ISSN: 1035-0330)and Media Asia(ISSN: 0129-6612)among others. His articles have been included as recommended reading materials by the Universityof Sussex, UK; St Paul’s University, Canada; and the Central University of Gujarat. His book Hindi Cinema, Ghosts and Ideologies was published by Sage Publications in 2016.
