About the Symposium
Objectives
Indian knowledge system holds a lot of significance in the contemporary scenario. The Indian spiritual ideology and scientific knowledge are stored and highlighted by many Indian as well as western thinkers, scholars, and philosophers.
The chief source of knowledge is found in the scripts of Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Geeta, Ramcharitmanas, and many other indigenous scriptures cutting across disciplines. This knowledge has been spread across different disciplines like Astronomy, Medicine, Mathematics, Science, Languages, Metallurgy, Arts, Architecture, Administration, etc. Most of the knowledge is available in Sanskrit, Pali, and Prakrit and many other indigenous languages that remain unexplored since decades.
As NEP 2020 focuses on Indian knowledge to revive the rich cultural, spiritual, and scientific base of knowledge, therefore teachers and teacher educators are direct sources of disseminating knowledge to the present and future generations. If the teacher educators are made aware of the Indian knowledge, then only it may be transmitted to future generations. So, the major responsibility lies on Teacher Educators.
The discussion on the Symposium will focus on school teachers and teacher educators having a background of Urdu language so that the understanding of the Indian Knowledge System could be provided to the target group.
Objectives
- To provide understanding of the concept and scope of the Indian Knowledge System.
- To foster a sense of love and appreciation for traditional knowledge systems in contemporary knowledge.
- To examine the relevance of IKS in modern education in terms of pedagogy, teaching methods, and curriculum.
- To integrate the functional aspects of the Indian Knowledge System through modern education with a focus on the Urdu language.
