Proctor shall monitor the disciplinary climate prevailing in the student community. He will look after all the matter related to the discipline among students.
Statutes of the University states that :
- The Proctor shall be appointed by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor and shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be assigned to him by the Vice-Chancellor.
- The Proctor shall hold office for a term of two years and shall be eligible for re-appointment. Further the statutes states under the heading of “Maintenance of discipline among students of the University” that:
- All powers relating to discipline and disciplinary action in relation to students of the University shall vest in the Vice-Chancellor.
- The Vice-Chancellor may delegate all or any of his powers as he deems proper to a Proctor and to such other officers as he may specify in this behalf.
