It offers a range of academic programs, including MA (English), Post Graduate Certificate Course in Teaching English (PGCTE), Post Graduate Diploma Course in Teaching English (PGDTE), PhD (English), and PhD (Comparative Literature). In alignment with the NEP 2020, the Department also offers discipline-specific core and elective courses, along with ability enhancement, skill enhancement, and generic courses in English and Linguistics for BA and other undergraduate programs. For postgraduate programs, it provides ability enhancement and generic courses under the CBCS framework. Committed to academic excellence and inclusivity, the Department focuses on mainstreaming minorities, promoting quality research, strengthening English-Urdu cultural interactions, and advancing women empowerment. Beyond preparing students for career opportunities, it nurtures a sense of social responsibility. The Department emphasizes bilingual research in English and Urdu while encouraging innovative and interdisciplinary research. To enhance academic engagement, the Department regularly organizes national and international conferences and workshops. Its key research areas include English Language Teaching, Phonetics, British Literature, American Literature, Commonwealth Literature, English-Urdu Literature, English-Urdu Translation Studies, Muslim Literature, Indian Writing in English, and Literary Theory and Criticism.
