About Maulana Azad National Urdu University
Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. The headquarters and main campus of MANUU is located at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Telangana, spread over an area of 200 acres.
The University is named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a great freedom fighter, visionary scholar and the first Education Minister of Independent India, who laid the foundation of modern, technical and higher education in the country.
As per Section 4 of the MANUU Act, the University aims to promote and develop the Urdu language, impart education in vocational, technical and professional disciplines through Urdu medium, provide access to higher education through regular and distance modes, and give special emphasis on women education.

MANUU offers distance education through nine Regional Centres located at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Darbhanga, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi and Srinagar, and five Sub-Regional Centres at Amravati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Lucknow and Nuh, spanning across 11 states of India.

MANUU offers 97 programmes including Ph.D, PG, UG, PG Diploma, Diploma, Certificate and vocational programmes through Polytechnics and ITIs. The University follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and updates curricula periodically.
