National Seminar Conference on Electoral Politics in Contemporary India: Emerging Trends

Event Description

The Department of Political Science organized two days seminar on the theme “Electoral Politics in Contemporary India: Emerging Trends”. The seminar had six technical sessions and two sessions of panel discussion. Twenty eight papers were presented in the various technical sessions. Dr. S.Y. Quraishi (Former Chief Election Commissioner) was the Chief Guest of the Inaugral Session. The panel discussions were  devoted to the theme of “Elections, Representation and Populism in India: A Discussion” and “Media and Elections”. The Seminar saw participation from important personalities from the field of academics, media and bureaucracy. Some of the prominent figures who participated are: Prof. Faizan Mustafa (NALSAR), Prof. Amirullah Khan, Prof. G. Haragopal, Prof. M. Asmer Beg, Prof. Muzaffar Assadi, Prof. Nisar ul Haque, Dr. Arfa Khanam (The Wire), Kingshuk Nag (Times of India) and Iqbal Ahmad (BBC).
