Profile of Prof. Danish Moin
Danish Moin, Professor of History at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, has been a renowned academician in the field Medieval Indian Numismatic and Medieval Indian History. He is currently holding the additional responsibility of Director (In-charge), Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI), MANUU since 2024.
In his role as Director (In-charge), CSSI, MANUU, Prof. Moin has been actively involved in designing, implementing, and promoting programmes focused on social justice, inclusion, capacity building, and empowerment of Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Group (SEDGs). Under his leadership, the Centre has organised several outreach initiatives addressing the concerns of marginalized sections, including transgender persons and persons with disabilities, with a focus on awareness, dignity, equal opportunities, and social participation. Committed to the vision of Viksit Bharat, Prof. Danish Moin continues to work towards inclusive growth, sustainable development, and social transformation through academic leadership, research, training, and community engagement. His administrative and scholarly contributions reflect a sustained commitment to creating meaningful interventions for the empowerment and upliftment of marginalized communities while strengthening the role of higher education in promoting social inclusion.
His academic duties encompass teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, alongside active involvement in research and training programs. Prof. Moin guided four PhD scholars to the completion of their doctoral degrees in History, and currently supervising five additional PhD candidates. He has been engaged in innovative teaching and learning methodologies, while continually updating course content and encouraging equitable dialogue with students.
Prof. Danish Moin has recently completed an individual research project funded by the Indian Council for Historical Research (ICHR) in New Delhi. Additionally, he served as a consultant for a research project at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum, in Mumbai.
He serves as a resource person for programs on Medieval Indian Numismatics offered by various organizations, including IIRNS (now INHCRF) in Nashik, Maharashtra. He has conducted practical training sessions on Medieval Indian Numismatics during my time at INHCRF in Nashik from 1992 to 2015, where he trained hundreds of students and Museum personnel across South Asia. Additionally, he worked as a subject expert on documentation projects for IIRNS under the National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (Archaeological Survey of India, Red Fort, New Delhi).
Currently, he is working on his book entitled “Mughal Coinage and Regional Circulation: Evidence from Coin Hoards in Maharashtra”

- Village adaption programme from the Centre for Study of Social Inclusion: organized and visited Aloor Village, Rangareddy, Telangana along with the research team and the students on 18 February 2025 for orientation/sensitization for Panchayat/local officials, elected representatives such as Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, MPTC, ward members, as well as the village residents and different religious representatives/leaders of the communities. - Organized a Sensitisation Programme under Viksit Bharat@2047 on “Enhancing Awareness of Government Schemes Among Women Housekeeping and Other Staff in MANUU, Hyderabad: A Path to Empowerment and Equity”. explained the importance of sensitization programmes meant for marginalized communities which will enhance their skills in utilisting the varied government schemes and programmes for their growth. I organized this programme as a Director i/c Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion.
- Prepared and printed educational posters and conducted short term awareness programme for school and college students to know Indian culture through Indian coins. Project was taken by IIRNS, funded by National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (ASI, Red Fort, New Delhi).
