Proceedings of the Event

The Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, School of Sciences, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), in collaboration with the Health Centre, MANUU, organized “Health Series – Invited Talk-2 on Cancer Awareness” on 04 February 2026 at the CSE Auditorium, MANUU.

The programme commenced at 11:00 AM with the formal welcome of the distinguished guest, faculty members, staff and students. The event was organized as part of the university's health awareness initiatives, with a focus on creating awareness regarding cancer, its prevention, early detection and the importance of timely medical intervention.

The invited lecture was delivered by Dr. Avinash Chaitanya, Consultant Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist, CARE Hospitals, Hyderabad. During the session, the speaker highlighted important aspects of cancer awareness and emphasized the significance of early detection, timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment and preventive health practices. The session provided students and participants with valuable insights into cancer-related health concerns and the importance of developing awareness about warning signs and risk factors.

The programme also provided an opportunity for students and faculty members to interact with the invited expert and enhance their understanding of cancer prevention and awareness from a clinical perspective.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Salman Ahmad Khan, I/C Dean, School of Sciences, and Prof. S. Maqbool Ahmad, Nodal Officer. The programme was coordinated with the support of the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development and the Health Centre, MANUU.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the invited speaker, university authorities, organizers, faculty members, staff and students for their valuable participation and support in making the programme successful.

Outcome of the Event

The invited talk successfully contributed to enhancing awareness among students and faculty regarding cancer prevention, early identification, timely diagnosis and the importance of seeking appropriate medical care. The programme also strengthened the university's commitment towards promoting health education and awareness among its academic community.
