MANUU Marks Hindi Diwas with Focus on Linguistic Harmony

The Department of Education and Training in collaboration with the Hindi Cell of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized a programme on the occasion of Hindi Diwas celebration on September 15, 2025. The event was centered on the theme “Hindi and its relationship with other Indian languages”

The Chief Guest, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, observed that India, though home to diverse languages and cultures, shares a deep affection for Hindi. He affirmed that Hindi is loved across regions and cultures.

Prof. Vanaja M., Dean, School of Education and Training in her presidential address, emphasized on the role of teachers in cultivating respect for linguistic diversity while strengthening proficiency in Hindi. Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, OSD, MANUU, remarked that language is more than a tool of communication—it is also an identity and culture.

Prof. Syed Najamul Hasan, Chairperson of the Official Language Implementation Committee, focused on the constitutional provisions supporting Hindi and stressed its importance in official communication. Prof. Karan Singh Utwal, Dept. of Hindi, highlighted the historical perspective of Hindi as an official language in the Indian Constitution. Prof. Shaheen Altaf Shaikh, Head, Department of E&T pointed out the deep cultural connection between Hindi and Urdu, together forming Hindustani. She led the students in a pledge to keep Hindi literature alive and vibrant.

Dr. Shagufta Parveen, Hindi Officer said that Hindi plays a vital role in binding the nation with the spirit of Unity in Diversity and has also attracted global recognition. Dr. Mohd Mustafa Ali Sarwari, Associate Professor, MCJ urged that MANUU as an institution should also demonstrate strong performance in promoting Hindi so that such achievements may be highlighted with pride in the future.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Ashwani, Associate Professor, highlighted the emphasis placed by the National Education Policy (NEP) on multilingualism.

The certificates were distributed to the winners of the essay writing competition and poem recitation organized as part of the Hindi Diwas activities. Certificates were also presented to successful candidates of the Parangat examination.

Dr. Shaikh Ehteshamuddin proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Firdous Tabassum, Dr. Ashraf Nawaz, Dr. Umm Salma, Dr. Saba Khatoon, Dr. Rubina and Dr. Shaikh Ehteshamuddin coordinated the event successfully.
