MANUU Celebrates Republic Day and MANUU Law School National Moot Court Competition

Hyderabad:

"We come from diverse regions, religions and linguistic backgrounds but we are all Indians". These views were expressed by Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today after unfurling the Flag at University campus on the 77th Republic Day celebration.

In his message, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said that on the occasion of Republic Day, we should not forget the sacrifices of those great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and their wealth to give us the opportunity to breathe in an independent India today. He said that the fruits that we are witnessing today are the results of the sacrifices of our ancestors.

The Vice Chancellor specifically referred to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who endured all kinds of hardships, faced jail and made every possible sacrifice to maintain the unity of the country and ensured the Independence of India.

Continuing his speech, the Vice Chancellor described India's diversity as precious stones. Just as the stones of the mountains are carved by the flow of water and become very valuable.

The Vice-Chancellor also distributed certificates & Medals to MANUU NCC Cadets and felicitate the winners of AIU Zonal Youth Festival - 2025.

Earlier, MANUU Sub-Unit NCC cadets presented guard of honour. Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU and Prof. Mohammed Abdul Azeem, Proctor accompanied the Vice-Chancellor during the Parade.

Students presented National Anthem and patriotic songs on the occasion under the supervision of Prof. Mohd. Muzaffar Hussain Khan and Dr. Shaikh Wasim.

Dr. Mohd. Yousuf Khan, Principal, MANUU Polytechnic Hyderabad & Chairman, Committee announced the names of NCC Cadets. Dr. Mohd. Mustafa Ali Sarwari, PRO I/c convened the programme. Lieutenant Mohd. Abdul Mujeeb, Associate NCC Officer supervised the parade preparation of MANUU NCC cadets.

Instructional Media Centre of MANUU live streamed the programme on IMC MANUU YouTube channel.

The faculty members, officers, large number of students and other staff were also present.

MANUU Law School National Moot Court Competition

The Moot Court Committee of MANUU Law School of Maulana Azad National Urdu University organised the 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2026, which provided a distinguished academic platform to law students from across the country to demonstrate their advocacy, research, and analytical skills. Participants from 22 law schools from all over the country were part of the competition.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Bharat Bhushan Parsoon, Senior Advocate and Former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, shared valuable insights on advocacy and judicial discipline during the inaugural session held on 10th January 2026.

The Chief Guest Address was delivered by the Learned Attorney General for India, Shri R. Venkataramani (Senior Advocate Supreme Court), who underlined the significance of moot court exercises in cultivating constitutional values, analytical reasoning, and professional responsibility among young law students.

In his Presidential Address Prof. Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, encouraged students to actively participate in national-level academic initiatives.

Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad, Dean and Head, MANUU Law School, & Chairman Moot Court Committee delivered Welcome Address. He emphasised the importance of mooting in shaping competent and ethically driven legal professionals.

Dr. Sudhanshu Chandra, Assistant Professor and Faculty Convener, Moot Court Committee, MANUU Law School proposed Vote of Thanks. The Student Convener, Ms. Jaza Abbas highlighted the objectives of the competition and its role in strengthening practical legal education.

Two teams - Keshav Memorial Law College and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur entered the final round and Maharashtra National Law University emerged as the Winning Team of the 2nd MANUU Law School National Moot Court Competition, 2026.

The Award for Best Memorial was also conferred upon Maharashtra National Law University in recognition of the exceptional quality, depth of research, and clarity of legal arguments presented in their memorial.

The eminent panel of jurists and senior legal professionals - Mr. Asadullah Pasha Advocate, High Court for the State of Telangana, Mr. B. Narasimha Sharma Additional Solicitor General of India for the High Court of Telangana, Mr. Mir Wajid Ali Kamil Senior Advocate, High Court for the State of Telangana, Mr. Sri A. Jagan Advocate and President, High Court Bar Association, Telangana and Hon’ble Justice B. Prakash Rao Former Judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court judged the final round of competitions.

The individual awards were also announced during the valedictory session held on January 24, 2026. The Best Speaker (Female) award was conferred upon Ms. Aditi Solanki from Maharashtra National Law University. The Best Speaker (Male) award was awarded to Mr. Kushal Pathak, also from Maharashtra National Law University. The Best Researcher Award was conferred upon Ms. Aditi Kalluri from NMIMS, Hyderabad.

The Valedictory Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Shri Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, Judge, Telangana High Court whereas Shri Justice B. Prakash Rao, Former Judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court presided over.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU, addressed the gathering and appreciated the successful conduct of the competition.
