MANUU taking possible steps to increase the proportion of local students - Vice-Chancellor

Though Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a National University, the number of local students from Telangana is nominal. In such a situation, the current administration of Urdu University is taking all possible measures to increase the number of local students. These views were expressed today by Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University during the awareness programme "Visit Urdu University".

 

He was addressing the students of MS Education Academy, Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Womens University and Govt. High School Tegha, Yakutpura who visited MANUU Campus under the 24th phase programme. More than 350 students participated in the program.

 

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his presidential address said that when he took charge as the Vice-Chancellor of MANUU in the year 2021, only 27 percent of women were studying in the University. Various steps were taken in this measure and today this number reached 47 percent.

 

According to Prof. Ainul Hasan, there is a lack of information about Urdu University among the people of Hyderabad city and to address this, the "Visit Urdu University" program was launched in August 2025 and to-date approximately 2,800 students from various schools and colleges were provided with information about various educational opportunities available at UniversityStudents are spending lakhs of rupees in other colleges for courses which they are studying. Those courses are being taught here at a very meagre fee. Students are even being provided jobs through campus placement, he added.

 

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. Syed Najmul Hasan, Coordinator, Alumni Affairs, Mr. Moazzam Hussain, Director, MS School, Dr. Ateeq Siddiqui, MS Education Academy, Dr. Ehtesham-ul-Hassan Mujahid, Women's University and Mr. Zahid Hussain, Principal, Govt. High School Tegha also spoke on the occasion.

 

Mr. Aijaz Ali QuraishiPresidentMANUU Alumni Association (MAA) delivered a welcome address and hoped that this awareness program will yield positive results in the long run.

 

Dr. Mohd. Mustafa Ali Sarwari, Associate Professor, Department of MCJ detailed about the "Visit Urdu University" programme and said that the aim of this program is to increase awareness about the educational opportunities available at Urdu University to ensure maximum admissions.
