Extension of the tenure of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan as MANUU VC

The tenure of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has been officially extended. Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar MANUU has issued a notification today in this regard. According to a communication, dated July 22, 2026, received from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, GoI, the Hon'ble President of India in her capacity as the visitor of MANUU has extended the term of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan as the Vice-Chancellor of MANUU.

The decision has been taken in recognition of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan's distinguished academic contributions and to ensure continuity in the University's ongoing developmental initiatives.

It may be recalled that Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan was appointed as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of MANUU on July 23, 2021 and he assumed the office on July 28, 2021.

During his tenure, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan worked consistently for the overall development of the University. Under his leadership, the University secured A+ Grade from NAAC. MANUU also finds place in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026 and in NIRF, Ministry of Education, GoI. In line with the NEP, School of Law was established where LL.B. programme and other law courses are being offered. The University also introduced several innovative courses and has established Varanasi Campus which includes a B.Ed. College as well as a Regional Centre for students seeking education through the distance learning mode. In recognition of his contributions Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan was also conferred the Padma Shri award in January 2025.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar along with faculty members, non-teaching employees and students have congratulated Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan on his extension as MANUU VC and expressed the hope that under his leadership MANUU will continue to attain new heights of academic excellence. While expressing his gratitude, the Vice Chancellor reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening and advancing the University during his extended term also.
