UNICEF’s Workshop on Child Rights Convention at MANUU Today
Hyderabad:
United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF)is organizing a Training Workshop on “Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)” for the students and faculty members of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on 15th and 16th November 2019 at HKS-Centre for Deccan Studies, MANUU Campus. The inaugural session will be held at 10.00 am. on 15th November.
The workshop is being conducted as part of the 30 years of CRC celebrations and in continuance with UNICEF’s capacity building initiatives to instill a child’s rights’ perspective in reporting among the academica and budding journalists.
According to Prof. Ehtesham Ahmad Khan, Dean, School of MCJ& Head, Department, Ms. Meital Rusdia, Chief Field Officer, UNICEF will deliver welcome address and Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor, MANUU will preside over the inaugural session.
Mr. Prasun Sen, Communication Specialist, UNICEF; Ms. Sonia Sarkar, Communication Officer (Media) UNICEF; Dr. M. H. Ghazali, editor, United News Network; Mr. Tehseen Munawer, editor, News 18 Urdu; and Dr. K.S. Arul Selvan, Associate Professor, SOJNMS, IGNOU will also grace the occasion.
A valedictory session of the Critical Appraisal Skills (CAS) programme on Health Journalism offered by the department during the academic year 2018-19 for UG and PG students is also slated to be held tomorrow at the venue.
Mohd. Mujahid Ali Elected President MOA

Maulana Azad National Urdu University Officers’ Association (MOA) unanimously elected new office bearers for the tenure 2019-21.
According to Dr. Mohd. Jamaluddin Khan, Chief Election Commissioner, Mohd. Mujahid Ali was elected as President of the Association, Abid Abdul Wasay (Vice President), Dr. Hammad Hashmi (Secretary), Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa (Joint Secretary), Dr. Badeeuddeen and Mrs. Ayesha Sultana as Executive Members .
The swearing in ceremony was held today at Saiyid Hamid Library Auditorium. The Election Commissioner administered the oath to new office bearers and presented the report of the election. Certificates were also distributed to the elected members.
Mr. Abdul Rasheed Shaik, Outgoing President along with newly elected President, Vice President & General Secretary spoke on the occasion.
Programme was started with recitation of The Holy Quran by Mr. Zahid Shaik. Mr. Aamir Badr conducted the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
