MANUU starts Training for Madarsas in Bihar

The people or nation that holds itself accountable will always move forward.” Dr. Mushtaque Ahmad, Registrar, Lalit Narayan Mithila Universityexpressed these view in the inaugural session of the training for Adolescent Education Programme (AEP) in Madarsas of Bihar held yesterday at Darbhanga, Bihar. The unique pilot project, sponsored by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is being implemented by Maulana Azad National Urdu University with the support of Government of Bihar.
A week long training will be given to more than 60 trainers and is being conducted in two parallel batches. These trainers will further train Nodal Teachers of Madarsas from the districts of Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Saharsha, Supual and Madhepura so that they can transact the module in their madarsas with adolescents at Wastania (Middle) Level.
The training commenced under the chairmanship of Prof Mohammad Shahid, Project Director, AEP Project.
Continuing his address as the Chief Guest, Dr.Mushtaque said it is very exciting that the Government of Bihar has given the responsibility to run the AEP project under its flagship Madarsa Strengthening Scheme.
Prof. Shahid highlighted the need and importance of the training and clarified the important role of the trainers. The real success of the training is when we succeed to change the overall environment and strengthen the institutions. Lauding the efforts of Dr Nadeem Noor UNFPA Bihar Chief, Mr Amir Subhani Former Secretary, Department of Minority Welfare, Bihar Government and the present Secretary Ms Safeena N,he said while Madarsas are neglected across the country, the Bihar Government decided to expand AEP in all Madarsas of Bihar.
Prof. Faiz Ahmad, Principal, MANUU CTE Darbhanga and Project Coordinator informed that the Bihar government has provided many facilities to MANUU in implementing AEP project and also the hostels for girls and boys at Darbhanga. MANUU has a big campus in Darbhanga where College of Teacher Education, Polytechnic, ITI & Model School are working. He thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Bihar Government as well as Bihar State Madarsa Education Board, UNFPA and Department of Minority Welfare for selecting MANUU to run this project.
The Assistant Project Coordinators - Dr. Shafayat Ahmad convened the program and Dr. Afroz Alam proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Chand Ansari, Dr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad, Dr. Sonu Rajak, Dr. Zafar Iqbal Zaidi, Dr Afroz Zaheer and Mr Shafeeque Ahmad also attended the inaugural session.
