Extension lecture on Women’s status & rights held at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University has organized an online extension lecture "Status and Rights of Women"yesterday in connection with International Women’s Day.

Dr. Ismat Mehdi, English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) delivered the lecture and Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c, presided over.

In her lecture Dr. Mehdi while tracing the history of extraordinary services rendered by women in India and in the Deccan, she also covered the achievements of present day women.

Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Vice-Chancellor I/c in his presidential address said that all religions teach respect of women, however it needs to be practiced. Women's rights need to be recognized and provided to them, then only broad-mindedness and enlightenment will come into the society. MANUU has taken up the task of empowering women through education, he added.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c in his address said that balance is essential in the life and there is no need to compare men and women, both have their own uniqueness and importance that need to be recognized for better environment.

Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, Chairperson, ICC, introduced the guest speaker, presented a brief report of ICC. She also threw light on the history of International Women's Day. Dr. Bi Bi Raza Khatoon, Member, ICC conducted the proceedings and Dr. Shamsuddin Ansari, Member Secretary, ICC proposed vote of thanks. Large number of faculties and students participated the lecture online.

 

MANUU launches “Mahotsav of Freedom” Webinar on role of Media in Freedom Struggle held today

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ),  Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized a webinar on “Role of Media in Freedom Struggletoday to mark the launching of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” in view of the celebrations of 75 years of India’s independence. This Mahotsav is a series of the events to be organized to commemorate 75th anniversary of Independence. The programmes will continue till 15th August 2022.

Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Vice Chancellor I/c, addressing as the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of freedom in human lives. Freedom is a prerequisite for personal and collective development, he emphasized. Different people, regardless of religion, nationality, race, language or region, have made many sacrifices for freedom of our Country. Prof. Rahmatullah welcomed the efforts of the Prime Minister for drawing attention towards those unsung heroes who made sacrifices behind the scenes during the independence movement and to bring their sacrifices into lime light.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohammed Mahmood, Registrar I/c pointed out the importance of journalism and said that in those days messages and ideas of freedom were used to be conveyed through poetry and journalism. Most of the leaders of the freedom movement were somewhere connected with journalism, he added. He advised to make a plan of action so that our country should be counted among the developed countries of the world.

Prof. Saneem Fatima, Dean, Academics in her address said it is a significant day to start Azadi Mahotsav activities as today is the anniversary of salt march (Salt Satyagraha). While quoting Prime Minister she said that we have to be self sufficient in areas of research, helath care facilities, technology etc.

Prof. Mohd. Fariyad, Head, Department of MCJ convened the webinar and spoke about the aims and objectives of the programme. Dr. Mohd Yousuf Khan,Dr. Jarrar Ahamad, Mr. Mohd Imtiyaz Alam, also addressed. Mr. Mohd Imtiyaz Alam proposed vote of thanks.
