International Immunology Day celebrated at MANUU

The primary preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19 is nothing but using mask, following social distancing, using sanitizer and avoiding crowding which block the entry of the virus. Apart from this vaccination is also very important for the purpose. Prof. Sharmista Banerji an eminent scientist in the field of Immunology and infectious diseases from University of Hyderabad expressed these views, while delivering the  International Day of Immunology (DOI-21) lecture on the topic: “A fight between immune system and SARS Cov 2: How it protects and what goes wrong” in a Webinar. Maulana Azad National Urdu University, School of Sciences (Zoology) has celebrated International Day of Immunology on 29th April 2021 by organizing the webinar. Indian Immunology Society, AIIMS, New Delhi sponsored the Webinar.
Prof. Sharmista gave scientific insights into the Covid-19 infection and the fight back of the host to this virus.
DOI-21 is an opportunity to educate and popularize immunology among the teachers and students at various levels. Besides in the present-day pandemic scenario of covid-19 the impact of bringing awareness through scientific concepts will go a long way for the better management of the current critical situation and the future.
Dean, School of Sciences Prof. Parveen Jahan, organizer, in her concluding remarks said that apart from preventing the infection, Life style modifications such as healthy balanced diet, good sleep and physical exercise etc will boost the immune system which act like a shield in preventing the adverse immune reactions, a cause of severity and mortality in covid-19 patients. She also proposed vote of thanks.
A panel discussion followed the lecture moderated by Dr. Masroor Fatima, Assistant professor, Zoology that went on with lot of questions addressed to the panel group consisting of Prof. Banerji and Ph.D Scholars of Zoology. Faculty members, Research Scholars, and Students of various Schools of MANUU participated in the Webinar and the response was overwhelming.
Dr.Arif Ahmed, Assistant professor, Zoology provided the technical support to the entire Webinar.
