MANUU observes Constitution Day

 Hyderabad: 

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) observed Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) today in front of IK Gujral Administrative building at Campus. The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on 26thNovember 1949 and it came into effect on 26thJanuary 1950. The Government of India has declared November 26 as the Constitution Day of India.

While addressing the gathering, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, MANUU said that constitution day reminds us to read the constitution and to understand and follow it. The constitution also gives us many privileges along with the responsibilities. It is the responsibility of every citizen to perform their duties.

Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Chairman, Social Responsibility & Extension Activities committee read out the Preamble of the Constitution of India to the students, teachers and staff members who took pledge to follow the constitution.

Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar I/c, Prof. Saneem Fatima, Dean, School of Business Management, Mr. Mirza Farhatullah Baig, Controller Examinations; Dr. PS Munawar Hussain, Finance Officer I/c, Dr. BL Meena, Dr. Mohd Jamaluddin Khan, Mr. Mohd. Hashim Ali Sajid, Mr. Abrar Ahmad, Mr. P. Habibullah and the members of the committee - Dr. Tahseen Bilgrami, Dr. Jarar Ahmed & Dr. Iqbal Khan were present on the occasion. Students, teaching & non-teaching staff also took oath to abide by the constitution.

Meanwhile, Department of Management and Commerce, MANUU organized an extension Lecture on the occasion. Prof. Afroz Alam, Head, Dept. of Political Science, MANUU delivered the lecture “Constitutional values and philosophy” at Makhdoom Mohiuddin auditorium, School of Commerce & Business Management Building, MANUU.
