MANUU walks for water on World Water Day

The School of Sciences (SoS) and HK Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies (HKS-CDS) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing a unique walk to mark the World Water Day (WWD) tomorrow as it’s outreach effort to make people aware about the importance of conservation of water resources. The participants holding banners & Placards will walk from MANUU campus to Bio Diversity Park and will come back campus.
According to Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, Consultant, SoS & Coordinator programme, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-chancellorwill flag off the march at “Baab-e-Ilm” (the main gate of Campus) at 7.20 am. The Vice-Chancellor and other Officials will deliver message on Jal Shakti Abhiyan at Bio Diversity Park and MANUU Drama Club team will present a Nukkad Natak on the importance of Water Conservation. Mr. Ch. Raghunandan Rao, ACP Madhapur Division will be the Guest of Honour. The participants will start their return journey from the Park by 8.45 am. Placards prepared by the students will be displayed at Indoor Stadium. Apart from MANUU Students, faculty members, children from MANUU Model School, Falaknuma and Birla Open Mind International School, Kollur will also join the walk.
The walk will be followed by a scientific programme with the theme “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible” at DDE Auditorium, MANUU at 11.00 am.
The Chief Guest, Dr. VM Tiwari, Director, NGRI & IICT, Hyderabad will deliver the talk on “Heli-borne Geophysics: A boon in making the invisible groundwater visible” and Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan will preside over the programme. The Guests of Honour - Dr. V Govindankutty will deliver talk on “Deccani Karez: Historic Water Supply System in Medieval India” and Mr. M Vedakumar on “Conservation of Historical Water Bodies in Hyderabad City”.
The Programme will be live streamed on MANUU-IMC Youtube Channel.
A film on water conservation written by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will also be screened by the Instructional Media Centre before the program.
