MANUU stages ‘Savaan-e-Hayat’ - a play on Hayat Bakshi Begum

Hyderabad:

HK Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies (HKS-CDS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organised a historical play ‘Savaan-e-Hayat’ yesterday evening at Open Air Auditorium as part of the Silver Jubilee Year celebrations of the university.

The play, based on the biography of Queen Hayat Bakshi Begum, the Qutub Shahi ruler of Golconda in 17th Century, was performed by the internationally acclaimed Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Home Minster, Government of Telangana spoke about the cultural ethos and peace loving nature of the people from this region which has been inherited as a legacy generation to generation.

In his presidential remarks, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU said he has seen a play of such high caliber after several years and he thanked the Centre for taking the lead in bringing such a fine cultural event to the university.

Padmasri Mohammad Ali Baig in his closing remark said students enjoyed the play which was seen in their applause of certain impactful dialogues. Prof. Salma Ahmed Farooqui, Director, HKS-CDS gave the opening remarks while Dr. A. Subash, Assistant Professor proposed vote of thanks.

The Director of the play, Padma Shri Mohammad Ali Baig played the role of three important men while veteran actress Rashmi Seth played the titular role, supported by Noor Baig, Vijay Prasad, S.A. Majeed and Sara Hussain.

The play saw a massive audience enjoying the cultural event. It was attended by students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the university and also large august gathering of eminent personalities from the city. The arrangements made were so notable that sound and dialogue was crystal clear even in the open space. Everyone appreciated the organizers for their efficiency and punctuality.

 

US Consulate Hyderabad deputes English Language Fellow to MANUU

 

Hyderabad:

Ms. Vivienne Thomas, The English Language Fellow from RELO deputed by the U.S. Consulate of Hyderabad visited Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on October 03, 2022 and called upon the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Syed Ainul Hasan, MANUU.

Thomas will be taking Communication skills in English classes for the UG and PG students of MANUU for about ten months.

Prof Ainul Hasan welcomed her and thanked the US consulate, Hyderabad. He said that her presence will definitely empower MANUU students to improve their communication skills in English and also make them more employable. He briefed about MANUU students to Ms. Thomas and suggested to her to concentrate on reading and writing skills of the students along with spoken English.

Dr. Mohammed Yousuf khan, Principal Polytechnic Hyderabad will coordinate her classes under the supervision of Prof Shagufta Shaheen, Head, Department of English, MANUU.

The Communication skills in English classes for the UG and PG students of MANUU will start from October 17, 2022.
