Refresher Course in History concludes at MANUU

 

Hyderabad:

Two week long online Refresher course in History concluded yesterday at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University  (MANUU). The course was organized on the issues in Indian History and related to themes of inter-faith relations, issues of women, Dalit movements in India, labour and migration, print media and nationalism, India’s maritime contacts with Indian Ocean and Mediterranean world and India’s relations with South-east Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, research and publication ethics.

Prof. KSS Seshan, retired Professor of History, HCU in his lecture said that different types of sources such as archaeology, numismatics, sculpture, epigraphy are needed in the reconstruction of our past history. Persian and Sanskrit sources and various literature available in different languages might also be explored.

Lectures on themes like history of science, role of indigenous institutions in colonial India, role of Sufi saints in Deccan were part of the refresher course.

Total 42 sessions were held and 68 participants from different states took part in the refresher courses. Eminent historians and scholars from various prominent Universities delivered the lectures.

Prof. Saneem Fatima, Director, UGC-HRDC in her address hoped that the refresher course brings about a change in the ways we deal with history.

 

MANUU awards PhD to Abdur Raqeeb

 

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has declared Mr. Abdur Raqeeb, S/o. Mr. Abdul Wahab qualified in Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Studies. He worked on the topic “A Study of Renowned Urdu Exegeses of Quran and their Methodologies” under the supervision of Dr. Md. Irfan Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, MANUU. The Viva-Voce was held on January 11, 2023.
