Documentary ‘Other Kohinoors, The Rocks of Hyderabad’  Public screening on February 17 at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Instructional Media Centre will be screening a documentary film “Other Kohinoors, the Rocks of the Hyderabad” on February 17, 3pm at CPDUMT Auditorium. Uma Magal is the director of the film.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU will preside over. Ms. Uma Magal, Filmmaker, Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, OSD-I, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, OSD-II and Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar will grace the screening.

The film, based on the tale of Hyderabadi rocks, has been shot in and around Hyderabad which showcased some of the iconic rocks including Pathar Dil rock of MANUU and received overwhelming response across the city. The film has used an interesting technique to tell the story and narrate the message  through a mixed genre ‘rap’ song in English, Dakhani and Telugu.

The film director, Uma Magal said that we are hoping to use the film as a resonant tool to raise a dialogue for our landscape, city, and future generations.

Mr Rizwan Ahamd, Director, IMC said it will be a great learning experience about Geo heritage of the Deccan region and its related culture.

Ms. Mahnoor Yar Khan is the co-producer of the film. Dr. Md. Imtiyaz Alam, Research officer, IMC is the convenor.  

MANUU awards PhD to Afreen Begum

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has declared Ms. Afreen Begum, D/o. Mr. Mohd. Khaja Miyan qualified in Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce. She worked on the topic “Investement Behaviour of Government Sector - Employees - With Reference to Telangana” under the supervision of Dr. Md. Sadat Shareef, Associate Professor, Directorate of Distance Education, MANUU. The Viva-Voce was held on January 24, 2023.
