About Ph.D. Programme

Maulana Azad National Urdu University established the Centre for Urdu Culture Studies (CUCS) in 2007 with the vision for the “promotion and protection of aesthetical and cultural values of Urdu Language and its historical consciousness”. Its mission is to preserve the culture and heritage of Urdu and develop it as a Cultural Research Centre. In view of its Vision and Mission the Centre has started a Ph.D. programme from academic year 2023-24 under the title “Ph.D. in Urdu Culture Studies” at Hyderabad Campus. The area of specialization for research into the Ph. D. Programme include Urdu Culture, Linguistic Culture, Cultural terminology, proverbs and idioms, Cultural depiction in Urdu Literature, Composite Culture, Multiculturalism, Ethnicity, Diversity, Pluralism, Coexistence, Materialistic Culture, Indian Culture, Regional Culture, Indo-Islamic Culture, Folk Culture, Urban Culture, Tribal Culture, Folk Art, Folk Literature, Folk Song, Folk Tale, Folk Theater, Popular Culture, Performing Art, Singing, Dance, Music, Drama, Fine Arts, Media Culture, Film Culture, Socio-Culture, Customs, Faith, Superstition, Entertainment, Tradition, Rituals, Practices, Lifestyles, Art and Aesthetics etc.
