Profile of Saheed Meo
Dr. Saheed Meo is founding faculty of Sociology at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. He specialises in the area of sociology of education, sociological theories, issues of social inequalities and transformation. He is currently writing on the issues of school choice and neoliberal reforms in education in India. While teaching at graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, he is also serving as Academic Coordinator in the Department, and Assistant Director at Directorate of Admissions.
His papers and reviews have published in Social Action, Indian Anthropologist, The Eastern Anthropologist, Pathshala: Bhitar aur Bhahar, and various other international journals. His opinion piece on pressing issues have appeared in Scroll.in, New Age Islam, Café Dissensus, The New Leam, Countercurrents.org, etc. He has authored ‘Classiki Samajiyati Nazariyat’ (a book on sociological theories in Urdu language, MANUU, 2021, forthcoming). He has also penned a national report ‘Caught in Crossfire: State of Children and Education in Civil Strife Affected Regions of India’, (with Rai and Thatte, Save the Children India, 2013).
