Profile of Afsana Saifi

Dr. Afsana is currently working as an Assistant Professor (Contractual) in the Department of Sociology at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad. She completed her Ph.D. in Sociology from MANUU. Her doctoral research titled “Learning and Living Experience of Girls: An Ethnographic Study of a Madrasa in Uttar Pradesh” focuses on the educational and lived experiences of madrasa girls.

She has qualified the UGC-NET in Sociology and holds an M.A. in Sociology from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Her research interests include Sociological Theory and Sociology of Education, with a particular focus on madrasa education and Muslim women’s empowerment.

She has also published research articles in academic journals and presented papers at academic conferences.
