MANUU organizes National Seminar on Urdu Media at MGKVP, Varanasi

 

Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s (MANUU), Department of Mass Communication and Journalism & MANUU Sub-Regional Centre, Varanasi organized one day National Seminar “Urdu Media: Past, Present, and Future” with the support of Institute of Madan Mohan Malviya Hindi Journalism, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKVP), Varanasi as part of Celebrating 200 years of Urdu Journalism (1822 -2022) at MGKVP on November 25, 2022.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU speaking as the chief guest, said that Urdu and Hindi journalism together fought for independence and it is very important to know this for strengthening the Ganga Jamuni Tahzeeb in today's time. There was a time when Raja Ram Mohan Roy brought out a newspaper in Persian language and that newspaper was read even in Iraq and Afghanistan, he told. While making comparative review of Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu languages, he said that words make their own place in the society according to the environment, they are not occupied by any language.

The guest of honour, Mr. M.W. Ansari, Former Director General of Police,Chhattisgarh and Former Secretary, Maulana Azad Education Foundation, Ministry of Education, GoI said that Urdu is not the language of any one caste, religion or community but it is the language of the entire country.

While presiding over the program, Prof. Ashok Mishra, Vice Chancellor I/c, Kashi Vidyapeeth, talked about presenting all languages and their journalism in a uniform manner. He said that we should not consider any language as the language of any one community.

Prof. Niranjan Sahay, Head, Department of Hindi and Modern Languages, MGKVP tried to mold creation and expression in a deep way. Prof. Aziz Haider, Prof. Om Prakash Singh, Mr. Afzal, Mr. AK Lari, Ajay Rai also spoke on the occasion.

Dr. Nagendra Singh, Associate Professor, Madan Mohan Malviya Institute of Hindi Journalism delivered welcome address. Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Head, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism & PRO I/c convened the programme. Dr. Mohd. Shamsuddin, Assistant Regional Director, MANUU SRC Varanasi proposed vote of thanks.

 MANUU observes International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women

 

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is observing International Day for Violence against Women and Elimination of Discrimination against Women Pakhwada from November 25 to December 09 across all its campuses.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar while addressing the inaugural session held on November 25, 2022 emphasized on the need to eliminate violence against women and girls. He stressed on the importance of being sensitive towards any social issue especially related to women. He advised that a harmonious environment should always be encouraged at every workplace be it office, school, college or university and wished that MANUU should come forward to set an example of such campus friendly environment and be the role model for others.

Prof. Gulfishan Habeeb, Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in her opening remarks said, “A dignified life with right to self-respect is what a woman or girl wants. Can’t we ensure this much?” 

Dr Ameena Tahseen, Head, Department of Women Education briefed about several forms of violence against women in her presentation. Dr. Meraj Ahmed Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication spoke about the movie “Thappad” and also moderated the discussion on the movie.

Dr, Arundhati T., Assistant Professor CS&IT and Member ICC introduced the Guest and Speakers. Dr Shafiq Ahmed, ARD and Member ICC delivered the welcome address and convened the proceeding of the entire programme. He encouraged students to actively participate in various awareness events by registering themselves for various competition based programmes like Slogan Writing, Poster Presentation, Photography Contest, Short Film / documentary film contest, Open Mic.

Dr, Shakera Parveen, Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Training proposed vote of thanks. Ms J. Jyoti, Member ICC was the Rapporteur. The event concluded with a discussion on screened movie entitled Thappad. The programme was conducted by ICC in association with Department of Women Education and MANUU Drama Club.

Several events like Invited Talks on Elimination of Violence Against Women and Cyber Stalking and Cyber Abuse; slogan writing, poster presentation, photography contest, short film/documentary film contest, open mic and brainstorming session are scheduled during the 16 day campaign.

Nationwide Intensive Awareness Programme Quiz competition conducted at MANUU

The office of the Dean, Students Welfare, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with Indian Overseas Bank, MANUU Branch, conducted a quiz competition on November 25, 2022 as part of the Nationwide Intensive Awareness Programme.

The awareness programme being observed from November 01 to 30 is focused on familiarizing citizens with the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme -2021, internal grievance redressal mechanism and safe banking practices, which was also the theme of the quiz.

109 students participated in the competition with Md Sajjad Ansari from Department of Urdu acquiring the first position while two students Md Sayeed Anwar from Department of Management and Commerce and Md Ehtashamul Haque from Department of Education and Training secured the second position. Cash prizes sponsored by Indian Overseas Bank were presented to the winners by Ms. Mamata Salam, Manager, IOB. Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf, the Dean, Students Welfare was also present on the occasion.

Ms. Ismat Fathima and Dr. Jarrar Ahamad coordinated the programme.
