MANUU, IMC to conduct Workshop  on Audio-Visual Archiving

Hyderabad: 

The Instructional Media Centre (IMC), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with the National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCCA), Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India is organizing a three-day workshop  on various aspects of Audio-Visual Archiving from February 21-23, 2024. This workshop aims to delve into the diverse realms of audio-visual materials and will accommodate 50 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis..

According to Mr. Rizwan Ahmad, Director, IMC,  Prof Pratapanand Jha, Director Cultural informatics NCAA and Mr Irfan Zubairi, Project coordinator will conduct the workshop. "Preserving cultural heritage through audio-visual media is not just a necessity but a responsibility. This workshop is a unique opportunity for professionals and enthusiasts alike to gain insights into the nuances of archiving in the digital age. Our collaboration with NCCA, IGNCA adds significant value to the initiative, ensuring a holistic understanding of the subject", said the Director.

The workshop sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including different audio-visual formats, storage equipment, measures for ensuring long-term accessibility, and the challenges encountered in preservation, digitization, and migration of endangered records and archives.
