MANUU and NCAA Illuminate the Future of Audio Visual Archiving

Hyderabad:

A three-day workshop on Audio Visual Archiving being organized by the Instructional Media Centre (IMC) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with the National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCAA), Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, presided over the inaugural function held yesterday.

Prof. Ainul Hasan emphasised the importance of preserving our cultural legacy for future generations. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in fostering cultural exchange, research, and education.

Dr Pratapanand Jha, Director Cultural informatics, NCAA, IGNCA, Ministry of Culture in his address mentioned the challenges of archiving resources and data. Prof Sk. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU also addressed the gathering.

Mr Rizwan Ahamd, Director, IMC welcomed the guest and said that the preservation of heritage through audiovisual archiving is not merely a matter of historical documentation; rather, it is a pivotal component of our overall development as a society.

The resource person, Mr. Irfan Zubairi highlighted that audiovisual archiving has been in place worldwide since the 1960s.

Eminent experts and practitioners are conducting interactive sessions, presentations, and hands-on training exercises. Participants from diverse backgrounds, including archivists, librarians, researchers, media professionals, and students are attending the workshop
