Fashion Designing courses launched at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Confining fashion designing to modeling profession is not correct, in fact both are separate fields. Fashion designing deals with garments and its related skills. Fashion designing course is very helpful for empowerment. Instead of focussing only on marriage, parents should also think about career for their children. Ms. Samana Hussaini, Chairperson, Samana College of Design Studies (SCDS), Hyderabad expressed these views today on the occasion of the launching of fashion designing and interior designing courses at Maulana Azad National Urdu University.  Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the programme.

A certificate course of one semester in Fashion & Interior designing and a diploma course of two semesters are being offered. Both these courses  are launched under the Memorandum of Understanding signed by MANUU and Samana College in August, 2022.

Ms. Samana while thanking MANUU for permitting the course to be taught as per their syllabus said that diploma students of SCDS are performing much better than Postgraduate students.

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his presidential address said various meetings were held by the UGC to implement the National Education Policy. As per the guideline of this policy, it is important to develop various skills in students. Various skills like computerized cloth weaving, sewing, embroidery, zari etc. to name a few. Today, the most active market in the world is fashion designing. Students can start their own business through this course, he added.

Prof. Ainul Hasan also inspected the sewing, knitting, dyeing machines which are specially installed in the seminar hall of CUCS for these courses.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, said that the program is being started under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor and with the efforts of Prof. Shugufta Shaheen.

The course will not only provide employment but will also ignite creativity and will benefit both the institutions, said Prof. Shaheen.
