GDP will increase two times if women economically engaged - Dr. Sharada Press Conference held at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today organized a press conference in connection with the 12th Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity to be held tomorrow at 6:30 pm at DDE Auditorium, MANUU campus.

The Population First (PF) in collaboration with Instructional Media Centre and Centre for Women Studies, MANUU is organizing these awards. The event is also supported by UNFPA, Norwegian Embassy New Delhi.

Dr. Sharada A.L, Director, PF while addressing the press conference said women constitute 50% of the population and if we really want to progress we have to take them with us. If women are also engaged economically then GDP will increase two times; so we cannot really ignore women. We are looking forward to a world that is more gender sensitive, equitable and that is a dream of every individual also to live in a better world, she remarked. Talking about Laadly awards she said there are 75 winners in 13 languages, coming from all over the country and life time achievement award is being given to Smt. Sharada Srinivasna, a pioneer in radio communication.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor in his address said MANUU is trying to provide quality education at all levels and is on its way to implement the National Education Policy. The university has started programmes in fashion designing, interior designing and diplomas in Russian and French languages. Acquiring more languages will greatly benefit the students, he said. Our Urdu background students are doing all courses from technology to humanities, and social sciences, he added. The university will not tolerate any gender-based discrimination, he stressed.

Ms. Dolly Thakur, Veteran Theatre Personality and National Coordinator, Laadly Media Awards while appreciating MANUU for taking steps towards women education said that many hurdles have been overcome but still many more to cross. She talked about the need to instill energy into young generation. She also advised women to open up their minds. 

Prof. Shahida, Director, Centre for Women Studies, MANUU also addressed the press conference and gave details about MoU signed by MANUU and PF.

Later, media persons asked several questions about MANUU, Population Funds, Laadli Media Awards which were answered by the concerned authorities.

MANUU MCJ Students won 1st prize CAS National Workshop jointly organized by MANUU & UNICEF at Dehradun

Hyderabad: 

A two-day CAS workshop “For Effective Reporting on Child Health organized by UNICEF in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) concluded on October 30, 2022 at Dehradun. Twelve (12) students from Department of MCJ represented MANUU in the workshop which was held from October 28 to 30.

Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Head, Department of MCJ and Prof. Ehtesham Ahmed Khan, Dean, School of Mass Communication and Journalism were facilitated by UNICEF officials for such type of initiatives. On this occasion Prof. Fariyad said that now a days it’s a very important to know about fake news and to check facts before circulating anything among public platforms. Prof. Ehtesham said that such type of workshop help journalism students to understand about media and its functioning. 12 MANUU media students were accompanied by Mr. Mohd. Tahir Quresh, Assistant Professor. A team led by MANUU students Faiza Parwez and Nazli kHAN won the first prize in workshop among 150 students and media persons participated in the workshop. Third prize winner team also led by MANUU students Siddiqua Fatima and Mohammed Faizan .

Zafrin Chowdhury, Chief of Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships, UNICEF India, in her online address throw light on Misinformation which perhaps is the only thing more contagious than the virus. It spreads fast and poses an imminent threat to public health safety.

The workshop brought together practitioners of CAS, journalism students and subject experts including Sanjay Abhigyan, Former Executive Editor, Amar Ujala (Dehradun) and CAS Mentor; Pankaj Pachauri, Media Editor, GO News, and CAS Mentor; Dr N K Arora, Chairman of India’s COVID-19 Working Group of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation; Prof (Dr.) Rajib Dasgupta, Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, School of Social Sciences, JNU; Somasekhar Mulugu, Former Associate Editor, The Hindu BusinessLine; Muralikrishnan Chinnadurai, Internews Health Journalism Network; immunization, health and nutrition experts from UNICEF, senior journalists and RJs from prominent newspapers and private FM to discuss in detail about misinformation and disinformation, fact news, the importance of evidence-based journalism in areas that impact children such as Routine Immunization, COVID-19 and Vaccines, Antibiotics, Nutrition and Primary Healthcare.

Vigilance Awareness Week begins at MANUU

Hyderabad:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is observing Vigilance Awareness Week – 2022 from 31.10.2022 to 6.11.2022 as per the directives of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Vanaja M, Chief Vigilance Officer  administered the "Integrity Pledge for Citizen" and "Rashtriya Ekta Divas pledge" to the newly admitted students, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the university during student induction program held in DDE Auditorium.

According to Prof. M Vanaja, various activities and competitions such as short videos and poster preparation will be organized on this year's theme  "Corruption free India for a developed nation" on November 02. Prizes will be distributed to students first three winners and e-certificates will be given to all participating students. The students, staff and faculty are also being motivated and guided to take  the e pledge through the link shared by the CVC.

 

MANUU is a microcosm of Modern India - Prof. Ainul Hasan SIP Deekhsharambh inaugurated at MANUU

MANUU is an excellent example of cultural integration, providing quality education along with preserving national identity. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) said yesterday addressing freshers at the inaugural session of Student Induction Programme (SIP)-2022 (Deeksharambh) organized by Dean, Students Welfare.

Stressing the importance of human values, Prof. Ainul Hasan said that disposition plays a significant role in the personality development of individuals. Attending classes regularly and maintaining punctuality along with discipline will take students to greater heights catapulting them to academic excellence, he added.

With the university also observing the Vigilance Awareness Week, all the stakeholders took the integrity pledge during the session.

Prof. Shagufta Shaheen, OSD1, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, OSD2 and Prof. M.Vanaja, Director, Directorate of Admissions also spoke on the occasion.

Prof. Mohammed Abdul Azeem, University Proctor, Prof. Mushtaq Patel, Provost, Boys Hostels, Dr. Viquar Unnisa, Provost, Girls Hostels, Deans of schools of studies, and Heads of the departments were also present. Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf, Dean, Students Welfare, welcomed the students and Prof. Mohammed Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Chairperson, SIP Task Group proposed vote of thanks. The SIP will go on till 5th November.
